Logan Kyle, a tight end that played for Vanderbilt over the last four years, has committed to James Madison out of the transfer portal.

Kyle shared the announcement of his commit to the Dukes with a graphic on social media on Thursday.

Kyle has spent all four of his collegiate seasons with the Commodores in Nashville. That span included nearly 30 appearances for the program on offense, both at tight end and receiver, as well as special teams.

In total, Kyle has caught 12 passes overall for 108 yards. Essentially all of that came during this past season where he made 11 catches for 103 yards. He was the offenses’ second-most productive tight end behind only Justin Ball, a player who also hit the portal and transferred to Mississippi State.

Kyle played high school football at Memorial (TX) where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,014 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He finished as a Top-175 WR in his class and a Top-125 player out of the state of Texas.

Kyle was one of 17 transfers to leave Music City this cycle in the portal. A dozen of those were on the offensive side of the football for Vandy. That exodus included three quarterbacks, their second-leading rusher, and their three-leading pass catchers along with an additional two receivers.

Now, as he joins the Dukes, Kyle will be their seventh addition from the portal. That has offset half of their portal losses since the coaching change from Curt Cignetti.

Kyle, along with the six others, will join under the leadership of Bob Chesney, the program’s new head coach. He is the fifth transfer for their offense altogether alongside QB Dylan Morris (Washington), RB George Pettaway (North Carolina), RB Ayo Adeyi (North Texas), and IOL Jesse Ramil (Saint Francis (PA)).
