Virginia Tech guard Georgia Amoore enters NCAA transfer portal
Virginia Tech guard Georgia Amoore has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos has been able to confirm. She enters with a ‘Do Not Contact’ designation, not allowing schools to reach out to her to begin with.
Amoore is one of the Hokies’ all-time best players and had just wrapped up her fourth season with the program. But she will now be on the open market ahead of her final year of eligibility.
However, the ‘Do Not Contact’ may give us a good idea as to where Amoore is thinking of playing the 2024-2025 season.
Virginia Tech recently lost head coach Kenny Brooks to the Kentucky Wildcats, a big hire for athletic director Mitch Barnhart. Now, Brooks might be looking to bring over some of his talent from Blacksburg with him to Lexington.
And not many would be better than Amoore. She holds all kinds of records at Virginia Tech, mainly when looking at distributing the ball. Amoore has the most assists at 656 and her assist-to-turnover ratio ranks No. 1 too, coming in at 1.8.
Amoore is high up the charts from a scoring perspective with her 1,853 points ranking third in program history. Making 293 three-pointers is second all-time as well.
Overall, a legend for the Hokies and one they will miss moving forward if she does wind up moving on.

Virginia Tech coming off first ACC regular season championship
Virginia Tech has been playing in the ACC for nearly two decades now but never had been able to bring home a regular-season conference championship. However, when Brooks was hired in 2016-2017, he began to turn the Hokies around and after a few seasons, they were on the national stage.
Last season was a dream run after being a one-seed in the NCAA Tournament and making it to the Final Four in Dallas vs. the LSU Tigers. Previously, Virginia Tech had made it out of the second weekend just once back in 1999.
This year had high expectations too and they delivered during the regular season. Virginia Tech won the ACC regular season title outright with a 14-4 conference record. A great moment for Brooks and everyone involved with the Hokies.
However, after just two games in both the ACC and NCAA Tournament, Virginia Tech was out of the postseason. A sad ending to the season before Brooks — and now Amoore — continue their college basketball careers elsewhere.
