Virginia Tech offensive lineman Johnny Dickson has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. He will have multiple years of eligibility remaining.

After redshirting as a true freshman in 2022, Dickson played in nine games in 2023. He did not start any, though, mostly featuring on special teams. Absent a larger role, he’s headed to the portal.

Dickson played high school football at Flour Bluff (Texas) High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 598 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Dickson is one of seven Virginia Tech players to enter the transfer portal this cycle. A Texas native, it’s unclear if Dickson will look to play closer to home or where he can get on the field quickly — or both. But as an offensive lineman with years of eligibility to go, he’ll be sought after in the portal by a number of suitors.
