Washington transfer linebacker transfer Ethan Barr flips to UCF
We now know the landing spot for former Vanderbilt-turned-Washington Huskies linebacker Ethan Barr. After already having jumped into the NCAA Transfer Portal from Vanderbilt and landing at Washington, Barr hit the portal again after the departure of former head coach Kalen DeBoer. It has been revealed on social media that Barr has committed to UCF.
This was the second time this offseason that the Flower Mond, TX, native had to find a new home courtesy of the transfer portal. Barr was originally with the Vanderbilt Commodores and transferred to Washington midway through December. But after the news of DeBoer leaving the Huskies to assume the head coaching position with Alabama following the abrupt retirement of Nick Saban, the former Commodore-turned-Husky found it in his best interest to find a new home in 2024.
He racked up over 200 tackles during his time with the Commodores. He was a team captain this season for the ‘Dores and racked up three tackles for loss and 55 tackles in the 2023 campaign.
As a junior (2022), Barr racked up 42 tackles and two tackles for loss, playing in all 12 games. His sophomore year (2021), he posted his best numbers, racking up 85 total tackles, four pass breakups, three interceptions, and two quarterback hurries.
As a high school prospect, Barr enjoyed a prolific career for Marcus High School (Flower Mound, Texas). He tallied more than 300 tackles in his high school career, racking up over 100 tackles in both his junior and senior year. As a senior, he led his team to an 11-2 season and the third round of the 6A state playoffs.
