Washington QB Will Rogers re-enters NCAA Transfer Portal
Washington transfer commit Will Rogers has re-entered the transfer portal, On3 has learned.
Rogers committed to Washington on Dec. 15. Rogers spent four seasons at Mississippi State, but opted to enter the transfer portal after the Bulldogs’ regular season concluded. He planned to replace Michael Penix Jr. next season and become head coach Kalen DeBoer’s next superstar.
However, after Alabama hired DeBoer to be the program’s next head coach, Rogers’ plans were turnt on their heads. Now, Rogers is searching for a new home again. He’s certainly an enticing candidate for any team in need of an experienced quarterback.
Over four seasons in Starkville, Will Rogers threw for more than 12,000 yards and 94 touchdowns, while completing better than 69 percent of his passes. Rogers’ playing time was limited in the 2023 campaign due to injury.
As a recruit, Rogers was the No. 590 overall prospect in the 2020 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranked as the nation’s No. 41 quarterback and the No. 19 recruit in Mississippi.
