Western Kentucky standout QB Austin Reed has informed the Hilltoppers staff that he’s staying at Western Kentucky instead of transferring, sources tell On3.

He had entered the transfer portal Dec. 5.

Reed, who transferred to WKU last year from Division II West Florida, ranks second nationally with 4,247 passing yards and is tied for fourth with 36 passing touchdowns for the 8-5 Hilltoppers. He has thrown for at least 320 yards in eight of Western Kentucky’s last 11 games.

Reed, who beat out former West Virginia QB Jarret Dodge for the Hilltoppers’ starting quarterback job, has also run for eight scores.

Led by Reed, Western Kentucky is ranked 10th nationally in total offense.

In his previous stop at West Florida, Reed led the team to a Division II national title in 2019.
