See the link below. From the article:

”The University of Michigan has agreed to a $490 million settlement with hundreds of people who say they were sexually assaulted by a former sports doctor at the school, those involved in the agreement said Wednesday.

Attorney Parker Stinar said that 1,050 people will share in the settlement, which was reached the night before.

University spokesman Rick Fitzgerald confirmed the settlement and said a statement would be released later Wednesday.

"I am proud to announce that a settlement was reached with the 1,050 survivors of Robert Anderson and the University of Michigan," Stinar said. "It has been a long and challenging journey, and I believe this settlement will provide justice and healing for the many brave men and women who refused to be silenced."

The university had been in mediation to resolve multiple lawsuits by mostly men who said Anderson sexually abused them during routine medical examinations. Anderson worked at the university from 1966 until his 2003 retirement and was director of the university's Health Service and a physician for multiple athletic teams, including football.”

Please take this opportunity to remember that Penn State has a culture problem.

so sad that these cases take years to resolve. As a licensed psychologist (retired) i know impact of abuse on victims and how hard it is often for victims to come forward.. However, parents and schools need to constantly educate kids about sexual abuse at age appropriate levels. If kids report abuse no teacher, principal, psychologist, counselor I worked with would ever fail to report. Most sexual abusers are serial abusers and most prefer victims of a specific age. Educate kids and tell them to let a trusting adult know immediately so these serial offenders NO longer have hundreds of victims.

Keith Moree and Robert Stone told reporters Tuesday that the Ann Arbor school is ripe for a culture change as its board conducts a search to permanently replace Schlissel, who was removed Saturday due to an alleged "inappropriate relationship with a university employee."

Penn State does have a culture problem - a culture of ineptitude, cowardice, and flaccid leadership. They threw EVERYONE (Spanier, Joe, Curley, all alums, current and future students, etc.) under the bus to preserve their own names, and it did nothing but wreck the reputation of the school, sour alums, and provide a blueprint for what not to do in a crisis (hint: disregard due process and pray there is enough money to throw at all the greedy interlopers - to include the B1G).

Where's those dirtbag muckrakers from Yahoo to condemn the whole university and everyone who graduated from there?

Since they only go out for blood against PSU it really speaks to how full of faeces they were the whole time.

I hope they all rot in hell.

I mean, sure, but they didn't suffer much, if at all, on the PR landscape. In addition to all the money Penn State spent trying to make a problem go away, the hit to our reputation is near permanent.

Legit question. For anyone who continues to watch ESPiN, is this being reported anywhere outside of print/online? specifically asking to TV.

Are there any University of Michigan groups that deny that sexual abuse occurred like say PS4RS? Could this be a case for John Ziegler?

Michigan fans never even had to talk about it or defend anyone.

In dozens and dozens of ways the Michigan State sex abuse scandal was so much bigger and more high profile than anything at Penn State and it barely registered with anyone in the national media. That's what happens when your school fights back and frames the discussion around the perpetrator, and doesn't blame the football team, athletics program, fans, and alums writ large. Same here with Michigan.

For those who don't speak mush, here is a translation:

Desmond Howard: "The one point that people continue to make, that really leaves a bad taste in my mouth is about the players and how the players shouldn't have to pay the price for what happened... as if they don't have a choice. You know, you read some tweets and some messages and people say, 'Hey, remember the victims.' Well, I challenge you to remember the victims, but THINK about the victims, and THINK about how they were victimized. Think about what they had to go through when this burly coach was victimizing them. Add some substance to that symbolism and they didn't have a choice. Those damn victims didn't have a choice. Why? Because of the culture at Penn State University, particularly in the football department. Now these football players today, who are at Penn State, they have a choice. If you grew up loving Penn State Nittany Lions football and you always wanted to play for Penn State, guess what? You can stay, and you can represent Penn State and wear that uniform proudly and you will have a chance to earn a degree from Penn State University. BUT, if you like to play in the postseason and all of the luxuries that come along with that sort of opportunity, then you can transfer out TODAY and go to another university and live out those dreams. The players today have a choice. The damned victims didn't."

I still have to see multiple articles today about Big Ben from what happened over 10 years ago. Thanks for the send-off so the bad taste stays in my mouth forever. I deserve that right? Shame on me for learning as many facts about those cases as possible and coming to my own conclusion. Shame on me.

A whole athletic department covering up rape of their own athletes for years garners no coverage. Not one finger wag. If this stuff is old news, then why is Ben excoriated AGAIN?
