Would naming the field after joe trigger a week of national pushback, 6 months of national push back or annual pushback several times a year when state plays a national game including every white out and every espn game day? Everyone here cool with a Sandusky barb every big game handled by the pre game boys? Worth it? I’m not sure.
Get it, but I hate to think Penn State yet again would run scared from the media. Saw enough of that in 2011/2012. Time to stand up for a change.

Do SuePa and the family really care about this? Is this some sort of nod to the older alumni (who may also have some cash to leave to PSU or NIL or both) that they can stop feeling angry/guilty. Not that we ever should have been made to feel guilty, but that was a clear part of the message that I received back then from the BoT and the Joe hater crowd (mostly secret sPitt fans).

(sarcasm) How dare anyone question the accepted, ridiculous narrative? Of course the first person you run to when you need to report a crime is the local football coach. Of course the local football coach is always an expert on the law and knows exactly what to do. Silly JoeBots!

Anyway, the Paterno name is on the library and, frankly, I think that meant a lot more to Joe and Sue than the name of the football field. I could be wrong.
I think the Paterno family does care and deserves a straight answer as opposed to the BS they've been fed.

Sadly it would be every game. Which is why I don’t think it’ll ever happen. So - how does PSU deal with this? I’d honestly pay Donald Trump wherever he wanted to hold a rally at Beaver Stadium and talk for an hour about how great it would be to name the field after Paterno. Then Russia would take care of the rest….and you’d have at least 50% buy in from the rest of America.

I asked ChatGPT to write a speech about this for Trump:

Ladies and gentlemen, we've got a tremendous issue on our hands, a tremendous injustice that needs to be rectified immediately. I'm talking about Penn State University and their failure to honor one of the greatest coaches in college football history, Joe Paterno. Now, Joe Paterno, he was a winner, folks. He built Penn State football into a powerhouse, a real powerhouse. And what do they do? They take his name off the field at Beaver Stadium. Can you believe it? It's disgraceful!

Let me tell you something, folks. Joe Paterno, he did more for Penn State than anyone else. He dedicated his life to that university, to those players, to those fans. And now they want to erase his legacy? Not on my watch! We're not going to stand for it!

I'm calling on Penn State University to do the right thing, to honor Joe Paterno the way he deserves to be honored. That field at Beaver Stadium, it should bear his name. It should be the Joe Paterno Field at Beaver Stadium. And it's not just about Joe Paterno, folks. It's about respect. It's about honoring our heroes, our legends.

So, to the folks at Penn State, I say this: You've got a chance to make this right. You've got a chance to show the world that you still have some respect, some gratitude for everything Joe Paterno did for your university. Do the right thing. Name that field after Joe Paterno. And do it now! Thank you, God bless you, and God bless America!
WTF. I’m out. Conversation just got exponentially weirder.

I thought it was a damn good simulation of what that speech would sound like, other than missing a Make Penn State Great Again or two
And the constant self appreciation and patting himself on the back. Anyone that starts a conversation with “Believe me…” is a con man and a crook.

It’s a school for crying out loud. Focus 100% of your time on providing the best education possible for the most affordable price. Anyone that thinks that wouldn’t be Joe’s top priority wasn’t listing to him.

That's the thing, tho. I haven't heard anyone say 'We gotta name it Paterno Field in honor of his being the winningest coach in college football history' or anything like that, really. It's been more of a 'oh yeah, he was a great coach too'. The full emphasis seems to be on his impact on Penn State as a person, a teacher, and a philanthropist. Because he did raise $1B, which the university will never ever see again in a campaign.

Personally we're happy seeing Paterno & Pattee Library. Which I think was supposed to be Sue Paterno & Pattee but SuePa said no dice? We could care less about the name of a field at some boondoggle stadium that's going to bankrupt Penn State.

Not a bad speech.....however that speech doesn't tell the whole story....as football is only 1/4 of what Joe did for PSU. His leadership, fundraising, and promotion for non-football, non-athletic projects is instumental to PSU being what it is today....that is a major part everyone forgets.
This action of being afraid of pushback seems similar to our BOT response to the NCAA's threat of sanctions compared to other schools telling NCAA to pound sand....caving in and scared instead of being strong and proud.

This is certainly a topic worth discussing and I do feel that it’s time we look at something like this or possibly as many have floated, the idea of renaming one of the roads.

But, as always, Lubrano couldn’t help himself and botched the execution. Bringing it up on THON weekend? Lol.

Remember when that guy mentioned bringing back the trophy in Pittsburgh in 2016? 🤪

Sue is too humble and kind.

But she and the family deserve this honor and so much more!
Unfortunately, this Administration has made it pretty clear that it's not happening on their watch. Why Jay and Lubrano are still dancing around with them is beyond me. On second thought, both are pretty stupid.

He knows it. Jay knows it. Why are they doing nothing about it? Probably don't have a clue. Maybe think they can wait it out. That's not going to work.
