tYping iz hArd...All fair points (open es an outsider wrestling fan) and I think Kemmerer goes tonight.
I don’t mean that I thought Kem gamed it. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen it gamed. But let’s say it’s SV and you’re in on a leg but your grip is slipping as opponent torques your fingers, arms, legs, and shoves his foot in your face. I’m not advocating it, and thankfully I’ve never seen what would appear to be a fake, but why not scream in agony before the grip breaks?I too agree with almost all your points and I don’t think Big Mike “faked it,” but I do think that stoppage increased his chances of staying in the match greatly. He’s a tough kid so I can never see him quitting on a match, but I think he would’ve had to tap reserves he usually doesn’t dip into if he would’ve given up 2 there. I am also ignorant to the level of discretion given to officials. Wrestling is just the only I know where there are in-match, game, etc. stoppages when you’re essentially on defense.
I took a long way to get here, but to answer you’re question, no way should a wrestler be able to benefit from a head knock. I know TnT are intense, but zI would talk him out of going tonight (because you know he wants to). They’ll he a bigger fight soon enough…
Good take though Sonny… I appreciate when folks can disagree and not cut each other.
That’s funnyWent over to Iowa to just lurk, they are on suicide watch. If anyone knows a prevention number, go over there and post it.
Warnerov and Young got brutalized.
I don't want to start something but didn't Austin DeSanto (or at least accused of a) 'tap-out' when wrestling RBY who was working towards back points..? If I get a vote, it sure seemed like it. If I was proficient at regathering the scene I'd collect and paste it.I don’t mean that I thought Kem gamed it. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen it gamed. Bartlett does nothing for me. I don’t ever see him being a champ
I don’t know any better but I certainly have an opinion! Those who know better than I, please weigh in (pun somewhat intended), but it is my opinion that Beau has the length of a 133 pounder, the weight of a 141 pounder and lacks both size and length to make the things happen that we thought we’d see. Next year, assuming he is a 141, will be a much different dynamic and more to his advantage.
I feel like an Iowa apologist, but in DeSanto’s defense (words rarely used), RBY isn’t very friendly to DeSanto’s foot or ankle or knee. At last year’s match, I too thought DeSanto was playing it up because he didn’t want to get turned, but the replay from last year and then again this year showed that RBY has found a very uncomfortable approach to DeSanto’s shots, and I guess it’s the ref’s job to call it an illegal move or potentially dangerous, neither of which have been done. But if DeSanto was using the tactic to save himself from being turned, why’d he take the medical forfeit instead of going back to wrestle like Kem?I don't want to start something but didn't Austin DeSanto (or at least accused of a) 'tap-out' when wrestling RBY who was working towards back points..? For the record, Michael Kemmerer is No Austin DeSanto.
Okay so I was just over there on HR visiting and just as I expected, there are the doomsday sayers, the eternal optimists, the HOMERS, the Idiots and hopefully parents of top HS wrestlers that say to themselves, 'With this fanbase, My kids never gonna wrestle for Iowa!'. The %'s may not match, but they are probably a lot like this board.HR - where they eat their own
Hey, no one said we were going to have to give actual answers to questions like this...I feel like an Iowa apologist, but in DeSanto’s defense (words rarely used), RBY isn’t very friendly to DeSanto’s foot or ankle or knee. Oh these are rhetorical questions?!?Hey, no one said we were going to have to give actual answers to questions like this...
I better change topics.Oh these are rhetorical questions?!?
Wow you told me to call the NCAAAll fair points.
What if two guys shoot at the same time, knock heads, and one guy gets it worse than the other? The rules don’t allow the other wrestler to jump on him and get the pin.
I should read the rule. I don’t know to what extent the referee has discretion. You’re right. A takedown for Smith seemed fair, even taking into account Kem’s injury. Another fair point is that if you wrestle with an injury, you accept the risk that the injury could cause you pain and harm your chances in the match.
I was simply going on what I’ve always seen. Injury occurs, referee calls injury time, other guy gets choice. That said, I can recall other times where the injury is so fluid within the match that the wrestling is not stopped until the action completes, which could include the takedown or other.
In the end, I agree with you more than I originally did, but I also didn’t disagree with the ref’s call. It just seems like how they call it. It also seems like it can be gamed.
Interested to see if Kem wrestled tonight. Seems wiser to rest his shoulder, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
