Reuben has been a big Sanders fan the past few years. So this is not a surprise. Reuben is one of the best and is usually spot on in his writings. This will be a tough call to resign Sanders because of all of the reasons he stated abut RB's. If he walks, they will need to prioritize a RB is round 2 or 3 next year.

It all comes down to dollars and duration. The OL, a potential Hurts extension and paying Brown and Smith likely trump a Sanders extension.

Howie will need some time to work through that.

If there’s one thing a great OL can do, it’s make a 3-4 round RB look like a first rounder. As much as I love boobie, he’s expendable because of the OL. I’d argue the OL is the priority

And I think you see that with Gainwell and Scott. They may not be as big play capable as Miles, but that running game will churn out yards and clock with them behind that OL.

to your point, neither were seoncd picks, (and they are doing very well) so there will be a great back available in the second rd next year. Get Sanders at your price, IMO Cowboys, thankfully way over paid for Zek, no money left for their receivers or OL

I am reserving judgement until after next Monday's game against Minnesota. The Vikings should be a much stiffer test for the defense and it could get UGLY if the Eagles defense doesn't show up. We'll know more soon.

that's fair. The Vikings are not a great match-up for the Birds, at least on paper. It should be an interesting game, and we will likely have a better sense of the Birds' strengths and weaknesses.

Do the Vikes still have Kirk Cousins?? I'll take my chances

yes, he's the starter. In the abstract, I'd probably agree with you. However, Cousins has had some success over the years against the Birds. If the Birds get pressure on him, they should have success. There wasn't a lot in the Lions game to give confidence that the Birds' DL will get a lot of pressure on Cousins. So they're likely to blitz a good bit, but Cousins has burnt the Birds in the past when they blitzed.

On the flip side, the Birds DBs are better than some of their prior groupings, so it's possible that even without getting to Cousins, the Birds' D won't allow him to pick them apart.

I think this all depends on minn-e-haha’s OL. Latest I saw was from June, but has their OL as lower-middle tier (19). Detroit was elite (3). Losing Barnett is gonna hurt. If we can get pressure on cousins, we have the DBs to keep with their WRs.

He’s 6-3 against the Eagles.
With some absolutely stellar showings. I believe when they last played a couple of years ago, Cousins put up 300+ yards with 3-4 TDs. Hurts and the offense will have to score lots of points next week for the Eagles to win.

Their D hasn't shown the ability to pressure the QB yet. If they blitz often, Minnesota can kill them with Cook and Thielen underneath. I'd be shocked if they hold Minnesota to less than 30 points on Monday. The Vikings defense looks improved too.

This will be a real test followed by a Washington team that looks better on offense. We'll learn a lot about the Eagles in the next couple of weeks.

Unfortunately for Miles Sanders, the best ability is availability. He gets hurt too much. See LeSean McCoy as to whether the Eagles will pay a running back. And they had a good OL back then too.

IIRC Andy paid Shady, Chip decided not to pay him again.
