285: Greg Kerkvliet vs. Trent Hilger, Wisconsin

First period
Kerk the aggressor so far but just lots of circling at the moment. It's a scoreless first in this one.

Second period
Kerk down. He's out in a hurry for a 1-0 lead. Kerk drives in and gets in on Hillger's legs and drives through for a takedown and 3-0 lead. That's end of period.

Third period
Hillger down. Kerk got a ride going. And going. And going. He's up over a minute in riding time.

Kerk d. Hillger, 4-0

197 consi: Dean vs. Gavin Hoffman, OSU

First period
Dean looked like he had a scoring attempt but Hoffman nicely fended it off. It's scoreless after one.

Second period
Dean down to start the second. He's out in a hurry for a 1-0 lead. Dean now shoots and spins to try and get control and Hoffman tries to fend it off but he cannot and it's a 3-0 lead for Dean. Dean trying to get the bow and arrow together here but the period runs out.

Third period
Neutral start. Didn't see how it happened but good scramble going on the mat but it ends with a stalemate. Back to neutral. dean shoots and gets Hoffman's leg, trips him to the mat, and secures a takedown for a 5-0 lead. Gets RT as well.

Dean d. Hoffman, 6-0

Not a huge surprise. If you win quarterfinals, you're assured of finishing in the top 6. So if you win, in addition to the advancement, your team gets the 6 points for a top 6 finish. Basically, there's always a lot of movement in the team scores during the quarterfinals due to the 6 additional points awarded.
I know, and it’s no longer the case, but is fun to type anyway

It’s all they have left. Accuse the Lions of some nefarious collusion with the officials.

And to be fair I was going over to their board to say that Murin had wrestled a helluva a match and well done by him and it was nothing but hate for PSU... sigh oh well stay over here I learned my lesson.

197 pounds: Dean vs. Harvey, ORST

First period
Harvey is in on a single leg first and Dean ought it off briefly but not long enough. It's 2-0 Harvey. Dean quickly out to 2-1. Dean in on a shot now that Harvey tries to whizzer are of. But, he cannot as Dean drives through and gets his other leg for a 3-2 lead before potentially dangerous stops the action with around a minute left to wrestle. Dean starts a ride but potentially dangerous halts the bout again. On a restart, Harvey works his way around and earns a reversal. It's 4-3 in favor of the Oregon State wrestler. Dean stands and turns in for an escape. It's 4-4. Harvey shoots, Dean snaps and circles, but time expires. It's 4-4.

Second period
Dean takes bottom. He turns and is out quickly to 5-4. Dean now shoots but can't connect as they break apart again. Dean shoots in for an ankle, picks up Harvey's leg, and Dean gets the trip and score for a 7-4 lead. Dean gets a stall warning for hanging onto Harvey's leg. But he's still in control as they re--start. Harvey tries to stand, then rolls, then stands, but Dean is shadowing him the whole way. Harvey stands again with 10 seconds left but Dean rides him out. It's 7-4 Dean after two.

Third period
Harvey takes bottom. I think that might be the first opponent to do so against Dean all tournament. Dean has a great ride going. And now the RT point is assured. So, it's 8-4. Harvey does escape. So, it's 8-5. Another takedown for Dean will do it. 10-5 winner and 2:16 in RT.

Dean d. Harvey 10-5, to keep his tournament alive.

It’s useless to try to interact with anyone from that board. They’ll call you a pedophile, accuses Cael of cheating in multiple ways and accuse our athletes of taking steroids.

It’s called the cesspool for a reason. The worst part is that they choose to embrace being a cesspool instead of trying to be better. Iowa has the worst fans in the conference for all sports hands down.

I mean, to be fair, they are Iowa fans. Not a lot of hope - just traditions based on mediocrity and disappointment.
