So, Trotter’s kid picked WVU? Really? Are his grades that bad or is there a really rich NIL deal in Morgantown? How long before he transfers out like a lot of their players this offseason?
We really don't know if Trotter was a take at this point, Who knows. It seemed that Picciotti and Rojas were two of the top LB targets but beyond those two who knows. With Trotter picking WVU and his brother being at Clemson, maybe he wasn't a take at Clemson. Could be he wasn't waiting for things to shake out, or maybe he just loved WVU, not something that is likely to come out.

Probably best location that isn't one of the top schools. I think he flips if he becomes a take at better schools unless he comes out with some magic love for the school.

As for RB, I think Montgomery has out paced Webb now.

It felt like a lot of schools liked him, but didn’t love him. West Virginia came in, offered, and pushed very hard. I think that’s a big part of it

I will say, Manny Diaz grew to like Trotter more than Pry did, but PSU has only been pushing real hard for a few months.

I wish Josiah all the best. Great kid. I think he’ll do well there.

Thanks Ryan. I hope Penn State doesn’t regret that approach down the road.

Any updates on this weekends visits? Is Montgomery close to committing? Who’s next? Anybody for a B/W weekend commitment?

WVU might be the school where he has the best chance of starting immediately against a good competition/schedule then there's always the portal for next year. Unless he flips of course.

Saw on 24/7 that they CB'd someone to PSU. Anyone have ideas as to who that might be?

Question: Does the 2023 class look like its shaping up to be a solid (top 15-20) class vs. 2022's exciting (top 10) class? Do we have a legitimate shot at some players who could get us into the top ten in this cycle? PSU can't seem to put together back-to-back top ten classes under Franklin. Any thoughts?

Already have two borderline 5 star OL players committed in Birchmeier and Williams. Some of the other commits are only high 3 star recruits according to the 247 consensus, but they are players that CJF and his staff have identified early which is more important to me than what some random rater believes. And that's how I look at it overall - if Franklin and his staff continue to get commits from his early offers and they fill out most of the class this Summer and by early Fall, the talent will be top 10 even if the raters don't believe so. But what usually happens is that other schools, some top ones that are late to offer some of CJF's early commits, come in later with offers, or a couple blow up at a camp or two, and then at least a couple of the 3 star commits get bumped up helping the class ranking...... And then together with the staff getting commits from players that are already solid 4 stars PSU should end up in the top 10 .......... Class size is also a factor, but with the portal it will be a surprise when PSU has a class of less than 23-25 players.

Thanks for the info. Maybe we will get 1 or 2 players this cycle who have a meteoric rise their senior season similar to Allar's rise. That's what makes following recruiting so much fun over the course of the year.

I have been away for a week and am getting caught up. Listened to the 4/12 Lions 247 podcast with Donahue and Fitz today and their interview with Andrew Rappleyea. Probably the best commitment interview I have heard. Andrew really opened up about the process and his feelings about the switch from Michigan. Very thoughtful young man. Loved his line about PSU being nothing (reference to the drive - there’s nothing on the way) and then everything….Wish I could figure out how to link it.
