Other than the first ten minutes, Spain controlled the match. They know how to pass the hell out of the ball and England was chasing the entire time. Lauren James coming in at the half helped with England’s pace a bit, but not enough.

Keep in mind, that Spain had a player revolt last year and fifteen players walked away and only three were allowed back. That’s been interesting to read up on. The Spanish keeper used to be their #3, and is the backup at Barca. She does have a strong youth pedigree. She was a captain when they won the U17WC in 2018 and was the starter on their U20 that finished 2nd in 2020.

Oh, and I learned that Spain still maintains a royal family. Didn’t notice any English royals on camera.

Yeah, I overslept and caught only the last 20 minutes. I never thought England was going to score.

Would have been hilarious if Harry & Markle had attended.

From the article…..

William was absent from Stadium Australia on Sunday despite being president of the Football Association, and is understood to have made the decision not to go because of the long flight involved for such a short period of time.

Environmentalists may applaud such a decision, and no doubt would have questioned the prince’s green credentials had he hopped on a long-haul flight. He is the founder of the Earthshot prize.

A quick trip to their penal colony wouldn’t even register as a hangnail on the monarchy’s carbon footprint.

when only 1 goal is scored on the day, it's not much of a competition for goal of the day. But it was an awfully nice shot/goal
