Sheesh..... didn't they just renovate a few years ago?

“I think a really good example is the Eiffel Tower. Everyone around the world knows the Eiffel Tower: you go to Paris, you stay in Paris, you spend money. We have one billion people around the world who follow Manchester United. I think everybody in the world who’s interested in football will want to visit Old Trafford.”
If each fan gives two quid, the project is paid for.

Not sure they actually get the funding nor will they get it. They have done renovations, but nothing like this. They are a financial mess in addition to the product on the field. Gary Neville had a great interview with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the club is a mess at all levels....but hey throw a shiny object out there for people to look at. The Glazers are pigs.

Liverpool do not have a PL match until 2 April. They play in that Carabao Cup horse-a$$ v. Newcastle on Sunday (16 March).

Yeah...it's always bad when your team is playing for a trophy.....brilliant take. It may not be he EPL title (they already have that wrapped up) or EUFA but it still can be a poor man's treble for Liverpool. Ooops, I mean double as I forgot about Plymouth.

Manchester City‘s Erling Haaland is expected to be out 5-7 weeks with an ankle injury.

In real time, depending on the sight line the ref has, it's not always to see for sure if the challenger's cleats struck the other player. But VAR should find that, and buzz down. It's hard to believe that the VAR evaluator screwed this up, and Tarkowski wasn't shown a red.

I was going to post this yesterday as I watched it in real time. I debated it with myself and was slightly torn. The only reason is that it's hard to prove intent and I feel like that is the difference between yellow and red in this case. But I definitely believe that Tarkowski knew exactly what he was doing with that follow through. If Mac has a bit more weight on that foot, his leg is getting snapped. The kind of injury that can wreck a career. I would have no issue with any ref showing the red there.

If anyone wants to see it..

Clean tackle 25 years ago. That looked deliberate to me though. Damn.

Intent was removed as criteria a ref had to evaluate in a challenge where the challenger's cleats strike the leg/body of a player that has the ball @ 7 years ago (I forget the exact year it was removed). As best as I can recall, the explanation to refs was that a player is responsible for their body at all times, so intentional or not, striking an opponent with cleats was to be addressed with a red card. In youth/adult non-professional leagues, where VAR is not in use, a ref can usually work around this a bit if they believe the foul was totally accidental, and not all that harmful to the recipient, by stating that they didn't have a clear view of the incident. In pro leagues, whether VAR is in use or not, the standard is much higher, and the ref is supposed to be very consistent in going straight to red in response to such actions. And if the ref misses the incident, the VAR operator is supposed to buzz down to have the ref review the play.
