I don't think Brown is ready. If I recall correctly, the bomb that Mahomes threw late in the Super Bowl (I think it was to Worthy), it was McCollum and Brown that were covering him, and neither of them did a good job on that. Both played a good bit on special teams in the Super Bowl, but I think each of them only played 2 snaps in the secondary -- I suspect that play brought an end to their playing.
the play in question...

I give Brown a pass on this play but not McCollum. It is also the first clean pocket Mahomes had that day, imo

if you watch this play, might want to bench #27 as well (tic) letting him run an out on the G/L!

Yeah, this one caught me by surprise as well. CJGJ wasn't perfect, but he was better than what they had on the roster. Unless they add somebody, the options on the roster to replace him are:

- Sydney Brown
- Tristin McCollum
- Lewis Cine

Neither Brown nor McCollum had done anything to show that they are close to being able to compete at CJGJ's level.

He was on a 3-year deal, so you wouldn't need to worry about re-signing him until after the 2025 season.

On the flip side, they let him him leave one time, and now have traded him. It makes one wonder if there is something going on behind the scenes/in the locker room that causes them to feel they are better off without him.

On the other side of the trade, Kenyon Green had a lot of potential coming out of college, but he's not been too impressive in the NFL. He missed 2023 due to a shoulder injury. He got benched half-way through season this past season.

I guess we'll learn more in the future, but this is a move I didn't see coming.
For me it's going to be reminding myself that Howie said at the beginning of the off season asking fans to be patient. They have a plan but it will take time to complete. Howie has been on a roll lately and I will trust what he is doing. Just have to sit back and wait... This may not be done until that start of camp in July.

Yeah, you only worry about the end of the race, not the start of it. Still, all the subtractions from the team do have the fans concerned (WIP is a mess to listen to).

Nothing in this gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling about Kenyon Green.

I swear in a game I watched, during the game, the moved Juice from C to his OG spot and brought in another C. Of all the people they could get for CJGJ you would think you could get better or at least a need say at LBer.

If Stoutland can work his magic again it will be incredible with what he did with Becton. That is a big IF I am very interested to see how he molds him....

Good Write up by Reuben Frank on how Howie learned his lessons from the Eagles last super bowl and knew he had to make hard decisions this off season....

He was an extremely productive number 2 rb running and receiving. Had a nose for the end zone.
I wonder what he is getting in the one year deal. I understand he will get a chance to play much more so it is good for him and his next contract presumabley

I think it’s the latter

I really wanted to keep him if it made decent financial sense... I thought he was a good change up from Saquon when Saquon needed a breather. Plus I think he helped keep Saquon fresh the whole season and in the playoffs.

That is a good write up. Thanks for sharing. And it makes sense. They can’t keep everyone and drafting around your super stars makes sense.

Howie is on a heater in terms of draft picks. It will be interesting to see what they do come April. There’s quite a bit of ammo to move around if they want to.

LMAO, that's a bar that almost anyone could clear:

For reference: Penny played in 3 games for the Birds, had 11 rushing attempts, and gained 33 yards in those attempts.

Really really surprised Becton hasn’t signed. Otoh look at the $$$ Will Fries signed for Becton shouldn’t be cheap
Fries 5 yr $88 mil coming off injury

Exactly I don't think signings will happen until much later and see what veterans get cut and are willing to sign for reasonable money. Howie has said please be patient they have a plan but it's going to take time to come to fruition. Howie has been on a roll and taken the Eagles to 3 Super Bowls in 8 years winning 2 of them. IMHO he has earned the right for us to sit back and wait as hard as that is ..

Yeah. Draft picks are the necessity in this formula. You just can’t pay everyone and with Carter coming up, they need to save now.

Eagles going back to the SuperBowl with this one, OTOH he cant be worse than Bryce Huff and a whole lot cheaper...

speaking of Bryce Huff maybe the Eagles need to move him to inside LBer and have it work out like it did for Zack Baun

I wonder how much of Huff is attitude and work ethic? There hasn’t been a peep about him. That says a lot, IMO.

Surprised he is still with team... not sure what his number would count against the cap but either Fangio see's something in him or he has a huge cap hit if they cut him.
