Nagao gives up another TD. 9-2. Unless he can turn the guy on top It's not looking great.

133: #10 seed Aaron Nagao vs. #23 seed Marlon Yarborough (UVA) -- I'll use MY for him

Per 1
Nagao with an early shot, they scramble, and go OOB, with 2:40 left. MY gets behind for a TD, 0-3. Nagao with a quick esc, 1-3. A crazy scramble, and MY with another TD, 1-6. Nagao to his feet and he's out, 2-6. MY in on a single, elevates, they scramble, and stopped for PD with 49 sec left. Nagao with a shot, MY with a counter, nothing. Nagao working a front headlock, but the buzzer sounds. RT @ 30 sec for MY

Per 2
MY defers, and Nagao takes bottom. Nagao up quickly, returned. Up again, returned. Nagao tries a roll and nearly gets caught. RT goes over 1 min for MY. Nagao up and out, 3-6. Nagao in on a single, they scramble, and OOB with 46 sec left. MY in on a double, and gets the TD, 3-9. Nagao to his feet, he rolls and they scramble. End. RT @ 1:39 for MY

Per 3
MY takes neutral. Nagao shoots, nothing. Nagao shoots, MY with a counter, and MY gets the TD, 3-12. Under 1 less. RT is locked for MY. Stall warning on Nagao. OOB with 36 sec left. Nagao gets a reversal, 5-12. He can't turn him. End. WIth RT, it's a 5-13 MAJ for Yarborough over Nagao.

An inauspicious start for PSU and for Nagao

Braden Davis in the hole on Mat 2

@GregPickel -- we could have both guys going at the same time

Edit: it appears that Mat 2 is moving faster, as Davis is up next, while Bartlett is still in the hole on Mat 7. I'll go with Davis, and if you could, please take Bartlett

Ugly for Nagao. His long road back to All-American status will start with No. 26 Kade Moore of Missouri in the consolation first round.

I thought he wrestled better at the Big Ten tournament taking 3rd. Thought he had turned the corner. Sometimes that isn’t match in a tournament after weighing in can be a problem.
As Greg stated, I think his illness wore him down a bit. Hard to constantly coming back from a conditioning perspective.

Davis up 3-0 end of one but did not like how Lujan was trying to peel his hands off. Might have dug his nails in.

#1 seed Braeden Davis vs. #33 seed Tristan Lujan (MSU) -- I'll use TL

Per 1
Nothing much thru 1. Davis in on a head inside single, and after a battle he gets the TD, 3-0. Davis with a nice ride going. TL to his feet, but they go OOB with 21 sec. left. TL to he feet, but time ends. RT @ 1:07 for Davis

Per 2
Davis takes bottom. He's sits out, reaches back for the head and is out quickly, 4-0. A lot of ear-to-ear. Davis in on a single, they scramble, and Davis gets the TD, 7-0. TL works to his feet, a stall warning on Davis just before the end of the period. RT @ 1:38 for Davis

Per 3
TL takes bottom. TL with a roll and nearly caught, but nothing. TL to his feet, and Davis basically cuts him, 7-1. RT @ 2:01 for Davis. TL reaches, Davis sprawls, nothing. 1 min left. End. With 2:01 in RT, it's an 8-1 DEC for Braeden Davis

We better bonus in these first rounds and second rounds to get the ball rolling. So far after two matches that hasn’t happened .
