I meant to post something about how I was likely to have to depart. We're babysitting my grandchild, and during the 2nd set, I had to turn off the TV and deal with the child. I regret not having taped the match. kNU was carving up PSU in the 2nd set, so when I departed I wasn't too confident that PSU would be victorious in the match. What a delightful surprise to find out that set 2 was the aberration, and PSU really played to the peak of their ability.
From what I saw, Caroline did have her best game of the season -- certainly her best game of the season against an elite opponent.
I admit I was surprised by this score. PSU has been very good this year but not as dominant as Nebraska. Home court advantage was big.
I do not think that anyone saw this upset coming. Nebraska is one of two best teams in the nation, the other being Pitt. What a great performance in a packed Rec Hall.
I watched Pitt demolish Louisville the other night and they are scary good.
I watched some of Nebby spanking Wiscy and they are scary good.
PSU has not been playing the game recently to that level ... until last night.
Nebraska doesn't give points away, you have to earn them.
Last night, PSU earned them.
Gritty performance by a team that was not playing to the level expected of a 4th ranked team, but still winning their matches.
I believe that the "experts" were thinking that after this weekend that Stanford would move up to 4 and drop PSU to 5 or 6. This is critical because the top 4 seeds will host 2 weekends of the NCAA tournament.
Louisville plays at Stanford today. Pitt plays at Georgia Tech. Nebby plays at Maryland.
Tomorrow evening, the NCAA tournament will be announced. I expect PSU to be top 4. I suspect the winner of Louisville -Stanford to also be top 4. Pitt and Nebby also.

Tremendous match for the Lions. Defensively they were on point, so was Nebraska tbh. That was a high level volleyball match. Winning it in 4 should be a great confidence builder heading into the tournament and show the players that they are capable of beating anyone in the country. All the talk this season has been that the best teams are Pitt and Nebraska above everyone else and PSU just gave the pundits something to think about.
