The Florida pipeline is proving difficult in the last few years, Texas and the west coast
seem better.
He’s from Kansas.
This one stings. Very frustrating.

Honestly, the kid is from Kansas. The PSU commitment never felt right to me anyway. I figured he would end up at one of the Texas schools or Oklahoma. Oh well. Next up. PSU stole one from TX last year in Granville and the staff is very high on him.

Correct, he is from Kansas.

As for the commitment never feeling right, I would rephrase that a bit. Woods rarely talked to recruiting guys, so there was never a lot of info out there about him. Plus with him being from KS, there was very little buzz about his play in his senior season, but that was mostly due to where he was located, and where the majority of the folks on this board are located.

He visited Florida a week or so ago, which caught most of us by surprise. And even then, he said almost nothing to the Univ. of FL guys that cover recruiting, or the guys that cover PSU recruiting, so there was almost nothing written about him that included quotes from him that gave fans any sense of what was going on.

Woods' father did have a prior connection with CJF, so there was home hope/belief that this would push things to the good guys.

My frustration is twofold: 1) he's a really good prospect, and 2) the switch came shortly before signing day, so PSU doesn't have a lot of time to respond. I'm sure PSU had contingency plans (they always do with regards to every recruit), but it's tough to execute them in a way you'd like when there is so little time.

Yeah, I understand that, but with the portal these decommittments don’t have the same sting they did for me in the past. Maybe Franklin gets another AE or Chop in the portal? For all we know, Woods never pans out. I was frustrated when the LB, Wingo, decommited a few years ago and went to Florida, but I have no idea if he ever panned out. Life goes on, there will be someone else.
