2 things I expected to come true just happened. As soon as Mack hit the portal I thought he realized he made a mistake and was coming back. Also, after not getting more playing time and having the horrible slip up in the Orange Bowl, I figured Miller would hit the portal.

It was expected

Wasn’t he the one that PSU was recruiting his younger brother recently and he went somewhere else? Kindof sucks for depth. Even though Cam had his moments, he was a player familiar with the system and had game experience.

Those days ended a long time ago.

We need to find a happy medium. Players need to have the opportunity to transfer if their original choice doesn't work out. Players didn't transfer back in the day because they couldn't many times. It doesn't mean that many more wouldn't have done so if they had the opportunity.

PS I used the Transfer Portal frequently myself. 😀

1. Slippery Rock
2. RACC - AA
3. PSU Berks
4. Albright - BS
5. Villanova - Cert Program
6. Kutztown - Grad School

Couple of interesting points/Questions that I will use this thread to communicate

1. Does NIL allw for Defer payments? So, can a player get some up front money and then get deferred payments over a period of time even after their playing time is complete? This would ensure the player gets an income over a period of time, benefitting the player as well as the NIL collective manage cash. I would imagine putting the money into an escrow would be the safest way to do it.

Heard this on a Steve Jones podcast - Mike Poorman was the guest and he said how he had dinner with Matt Millen, and Millen told the story of his contract with the Raiders, which involved $250,000 deferred payments per year over 35 years. He got his last check this past year.

2. The average for non athlete college students to transfer is 1.5 (obviously difficult to only transfer 0.5). I was not aware that this was the number - frankly figured it would be a lot lower than that. So, an athlete transferring once or even twice is not out of the realm of consistency with non athlete college students.

Tom, if this needs to be moved to a different thread - please do.

Somewhat frustrating. He visited PSU this weekend, and spent good bit of time with DC Tom Allen. Reports were that he was pretty close to committing, but when he reports of Allen to Clemson started appearing, he indicated that he was going to take a little bit of time to consider things.

PSU was in discussions with him, and tried to get him to visit. Rumblings were that NIL was becoming a big factor in his decision; hard to know for sure.

Portal time is shrinking .

A pool (of players?) will do that

Has the portal window closed for PSU players?

I believe Tuesday was the last day they could submit paperwork to enter. PSU then has 2 days to process the paperwork, so it's possible that some have entered that we won't learn of until Thursday.

Another caveat is that graduate students can enter at any time

and there is an extension for players playing in the CFP final as well
