I believe I read after his class was announced that he would be the first to go. Wish i knew who said that. A poster who can foretell the future would be handy. Our usual posters have trouble foretelling the past.
Cunningham was hurt much of the year. Did he even give this a chance??? He would be in a good position for time next year based on the exodus of players out of the DL.

Oh yes, let's let Congress in on this.
Well the current actors have simply turtled up and let'er rip. Do you have any hope this will be addressed by anyone else?

I'm no fan of Congress but who is prepared to step up? University Presidents? NCAA? Conference leaders? Should we have more confidence in those individuals?

I find it ironic that congress is elected, most likely by (some of the) fans who pay for the product that they supposedly want to change.

Why not just have the fans stop paying and then congress would not have to be involved? Fans could vote with their dollars to change the "college" football system.

I would have more hope with the posters on this message board than I would Congress.

Bottom line is that no one has standing to prevent a college athlete from being paid by non-university entities. The genie is out of the bottle.

If I won the lottery and wanted to pay the PSU quarterback $50k a month just because, I don’t think anyone could tell me I couldn’t.

Is this real?

no its not. that said the top 3 QB's have, but they were going to anyway even if Huff stayed or went. Huff was not done wrong by Marshall. basically after a terrible yr 3 they agreed that they would discuss things at the end of the year, 2024. They did better in 2024 then most would have guessed including me. But the agreement was, Huff was not to interview for any other jobe before the end ot the season. Well he did something with S. Miss as he had the job before the season was over. He was offered several extensions at MU, but Huff did not want to have a buy out. He then would say that he really wanted to stay, but in reality he wanted to get at MU from the day he stepped on campus. His wife hated it here
it was a mess, but he wasnt done wrong by MU. Most reasonable people here are glad hes is been replaced by someone who wants to be here, Tony Gibson a Van, wv native.

Ftr the two that hurt are Pennington and Yates as both are legacys. Yates played. Huff didn’t think Pennington could play but was stuck w him as the old staff offered him

I seem to recall Pennington being pretty bad last year. I have a feeling Army is going to have a field day.

That’s worse than Sandusky era departures from PSU…

you can gift anyone $50k per month, however YOU will be paying 34% gift tax on the amount over $17k per year, so the IRS will want about $190k from you. for the gift to qualify as a gift there cannot be any consideration/contract for service etc as that would be pay for service. The collectives are filing returns and sending 1099s to players if they pay them to play for a team. this pay of play $$$ is not tax free. If a collective did not file tax forms that is not an NCAA issue it is a criminal matter.

some on the board have probably encountered this when helping one of their kids get a house. you cannot just hand them a bucket of $$$$ without the IRS getting their cut.
