Of all the countless NFL quarterbacks who have been decent back ups, even though the 49ers are on their fourth QB, how did they end up with Josh Johnson? This guy looked incompetent. And to top it off he supposedly has been in the league for 15 years and no one has heard of him. He must be really good to last 15 years and be that unknown🤔

I have heard of Josh Johnson. He’s started some games and stuck around because he’s actually been serviceable. Tough position to go in today and he played pretty bad. When you’re down to your 4th QB, that’s usually going to be the case. But I’d say most real NFL fans know who Josh Johnson is. Pretty sure Harbaugh coached him at San Diego in college. Not to mention he’s played for half the NFL teams.

Hats off to him for staying in the nfl that long. He looked totally lost today. Tough spot, but that fumbled snap was a big mo changer. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an NFL team with no quarterback, especially in the championship game. It was sad seeing them just have to hand off, which is not good in the NFL or anywhere else.

Josh Johnson has a NFL record and is an answer to a great trivia question.

During his 15 years in the NFL, Johnson has been a member of 14 different teams, the most for a player in league history.

By reading the comments, sounds to me like Josh Johnson has played his last NFL game. Also sounds like maybe some coaches will re-eval the 4th QB option and cut that # down to just 3. I mean, have an extra field goal kicker or an extra RB or WR or something because you can teach anybody to hand the ball off. Seems like 4 qb's is 1 too many.

He wasn’t part of the 53 man roster until they lost 2qbs to injury

There is not a team in the NFL that carries 4 qbs starting the season. Most have three, some only 2. SF has a 4th, because its starter and backup went on injured reserve. So the 4th guy, Johnson, was added late in the season, in December in fact. Johnson was playing XFL football in 2020.

Ah. Ok. Fair enough. I don't really keep up with the NFL or how they operate. I mean, I understand the game and everything but college football is where my true love is. I live for Saturdays in the fall.

Playing on that many teams and bouncing around various leagues, if he ever wrote a book, I'd read it.

He was 4th string, even more irrelevant than "Mr. Irrelevent." In the end the 49ers lost numbers 1 through 3 due to injury, then lost number 4 after a concussion in yesterday's game. That's quite a run of bad luck!

Just a quirk to lose 3 qbs. Sure took them out of the game. Had to be terribly frustrating to Al 49ers players and fans to have 2 qbs out of the game and then to lose number 3 right out of the gate. I was hoping to see Debo and Kinlaw in the Super Bowl. Too many Gamecock memories of Deebo(Chapman H S) to list but two stand out forKinlow. He worked harder to get into U S C than any player I recall. There was a wr who like Kinlaw perserved to get admitted but I don’t recall his name. The other memory of Javon was the game of his career. His play against U G A his sr. year was a real difference maker. We would not have had that major upset w o his d play. I loved putting a loss on UGA.

That was number 4, actually. Trey Lance -> Jimmy Garropolo -> Brock Purdy -> Josh Johnson. All went down with an injury, the last 2 in the same NFC game!
