ACC mulling addition of SMU

I started to respond similarly yesterday, but you get tired of batting down such notions.
Are they ? Or are some programs shooting down the prospect of expanding for reasons that they may be working on their own agenda for future conference affiliation ? Just a theory.
I’m not so sure about that. It’s not a given that brings in ND. If it doesn’t I don’t see what is being gained, therefore the no schools are just protecting themselves. The last thing you want to do is dilute or raise the cost of travel which gets you no where.
I kind of miss the days when there were contiguous conferences by region: The PAC 10, Big 10, Big 8, Southwest Conference, SEC, ACC. I say "kind of" because if we were still in the ACC.....YIKES.
The reason for bring in either Cal and Stan or cal Stan and Smu is supposedly to be able to give more money to Clemson and FSU.In an article on ESPN.com it says Clemson ,FSU,NC and Nc State are opposed to bringing them in.Go figure.
I believe only after Florida State turned down the SEC did the SEC invite us. Someone can correct me if my memory is faulty. If FSU had gone into the SEC, maybe the ACC would have taken us back if we crawled on our knees and probably paid them the equivalent of $50 million in today's dollars. And then we'd be in that ACC mess today. Reminds me of an old girlfriend from high school who dumped me. Seeing a picture of her today.....SMH....man did I luck out.
The "mulling" isn't going very smoothly.

Source: 4 ACC schools opposed to Cal, Stanford
Florida State, North Carolina, Clemson and NC State are opposed to adding Cal and Stanford to the ACC, a source confirmed to ESPN, but expansion discussions are not completely over as of Friday evening.

Call me jaded, but since ESPN owns the GOR rights for the ACC, and appears to be driving that bus, any comments they have about the ACC i tend to be skeptical.
