Where we are struggling now is exactly where we all sat on here before the season and feared we would struggle.....right?<div>
</div><div>1. Offensive line- our starters in the two most important positions are redshirt freshmen.....need I say more. Day is not sitting there making the blitz reads and leading that line like a more experienced player would be. Even our senior right tackle missed a few huge blocks last night. We have some good linemen in waiting but they just are not ready yet. I am confident that this will improve soon.</div><div>
</div><div>2. Linebackers- Our best backer is another white kid that played quarterback in high school! Wilson was a former walk-on correct? and the other starting outside backer is a RS Freshman right? Who honestly expected them to be great this year... I sure didn't. Again we have a few good ones in line but you cant expect freshmen and RS freshmen to jump right in and compete at the highest level in the SEC now can you. </div><div>
</div><div>3. Defensive end- We are really struggling here and they are making our linebackers look even worse than they really are. One of our starting ends are a guy that once tried to playreceiver if im not mistaken? If he was even a serviceable end he would have never ever even been considered to be tried at receiver. Fergusen is fair, but i would not consider him elite by any means.</div><div>
</div><div>4. Receiver- Didn't really expect this one. I am at a loss here....I finally thought we had a group of receivers that would be superior to the competition, but they have really struggled at getting separation at times and even just catching the freakin ball!!! After watching TSUN screw around yesterday I really would love to have Brassell and Moncreif (sp?) They both are playmakers that we could really use at the receiver position. Looks to me like Relf's timing is off with the receivers for some reason this year, just cant explain this one. </div><div>
</div><div>Overall Im still very confident in our coaching staff's ability to coach and win games but they need to hit the recruiting trial hard and fill the voids that we have in starting roles and depth at VERY important positions.</div>

in regulation. Mullen and crew got out coached last night and NONE of us thought that would be a problem before the season started .

I do somewhat agree......I almost feel we installed a vanilla game plan banking on us just blowing them away and running over top of them, but we are NOT talented enough to win against anybody playing vanilla. It just really looks suspicious when you dont see the plays that worked so well last season and during the first two games.

5. Quarterback - We are terrible, terrible at QB. It's not a timing issue, it's a terrible issue!! Relf can't complete a pass. I don't know what happened. I had high hopes for him this year. He looked like he had gotten so much better at the end of last year. Now he looks like he did 2 years ago.

He has zero confidence right now.

not being talented enough to win against any decent team playing vanilla and with our current level of recruiting probably never will be. We probably still have less overall talent on our roster than anyone in the SEC other than Vandy and KY. I think even OM probably has slightly better overall raw talent but they are in an out of control program right now. And here is the problem with being a "development" program, when you are getting in predominantly 2 and 3 stars rather than predominantly 4 and 5 stars like the top end programs of the SEC they are NOT ready to start as RFr. Maybe contribute a little but definitely not start or see significant minutes. And right now we are depending on WAY too many RFr primarily on the OL. But we also have some young DL being depended on as well pretty heavily. Now if we had a few more guys ready to play coming in as signees this problem would be a little easier to deal with.
