Anyone else really excited about having a 6'5" QB?

Rumors were that BO’B instructed Hack where to throw the ball. Having good TEs and Allen Robinson made that a little easier.

You got it. All-America Allen Robinson made Hack look good with his acrobatic catches. After Robinson went to the NFL, Hack was exposed as probably the most overrated PSU bust in program history.

Allar's height is what I'm most excited about right now and could be his most important attribute going into his first year as the starter. We haven't had a QB who could see, post snap, over the OL/DL to scan the entire field in a long time. This has to have an effect on a QB's split decision making abilities and overall pocket presence. I would assume Clifford and Trace had to either drop back further or roll out to get a similar viewpoint as Allar will have in the pocket.
I'd rather have a scrappy 5'5" guy with moderate speed.

It is impossible to describe with the English language my optimism over the having this kid take the helm at QB for the good guys. You can count on one hand since Chuck Burkhart the number of times PSU had a sky is the limit QB, and worse yet, you don't need any fingers to count how often we exploited their talents. In the name of God, it is time to do that.

He would have been benched in favor of Trace by the second game his Junior year.
Hack, Sacca, and Allar we the only no-ceiling QBs we have ever recruited. Sacca was doubly afflicted by a premature starting role but he had a rifle arm and could run. Hack really needed BOB for his development but like David Carr, he couldn't handle the lack of pass protection. IMHO, Hack deserves respect because he came to us in a dark hour, and he wanted to be a Lion. Both he and Sacca vindicated Joe's philosophy of bringing them along patiently in his program. Joe was able to do that with Blackledge and he exceeded expectations. But if you look at him on the YouTube machine you can see his limits that were compensated by the talent on the other end of his throws which is why I don't lump him in with Sacca and Hack. From a pure talent perspective, its Sacca, Hack and Allar in Tier 1, Blackledge, Robinson, Fusina, Number #9, Clifford, Shuman and Collins in Tier 2, Richardson, Burkhart, Clark, Morelli, Huffnagle and Zack in Tier 3. Tier 3 guys are good QBs but and were able to compensate for their deficiencies. The one guy I wanted to see develop was Tom Bill. His 42-7 win against VA before his tenure went off the rails was a great night to own a television machine.

I too was a big Tom Bill fan. I remember he had problems with alcohol and maybe a few other things but on the field he had that cocky "can do/will do" attitude that I love to see in a quarterback. Trace and Matt McGloin had that cocky edge as well.
