What's it like? They got casinos? How's the food/restaurant scene in Norman? Never too early to start planning a road trip for our once every 14 years away football game.

They had Indian casinos. The biggest is in Durant and it’s a Choctaw casino.

norman’s food scene isn’t bad. You’re still close enough to OKC to get some of the best (expensive) steaks in the region.

Casinos? Doubt it

Nice little community type setting, 20 miles south of Ok City. A few decent restaurants.

I spent two weeks there, long, long ago.

They did have two strip clubs.

Have a relative there and got a tour of the campus when passing through once. Nice layout and big looking stadium. Ate at a bbq joint and it was good. Can't remember the name. I'm an old 17er.

Lived in OKC a couple years

Enjoyed it. Never did a game day in Norman though. Norman may as well be a suburb when trip planning. It's not a far drive from OKC to campus at all.

Be prepared for non stop roads under construction or absolutely beat up terrible roads to drive on.

Just make sure you call their mesquite bushes "trees". Some kind of inferiority complex because they don't have tall trees.

I have a high school friend who lives in Edmund just north of OKC. Has one kid at OU and one kid at OSU. I asked if they couldn’t at least go to the same school for convenience sake. They pointed out that the two schools are only a little over an hour apart and they live almost in the middle. As big as Oklahoma is I expected the university’s to be spread out more. They are closer together than we are to Alabama.

Its a blistering ********. It’s uncomfortably hot in the summer and uncomfortably cold in the winter. The coldest I’ve ever been was climbing tanks outside of OKC in February. You can feel the Devon Energy building swaying in the wind which is a little uneasy.

There’s not much water. Not much green-anything.

I’d rather live in MS over OK all day.

Choctaw is not the largest casino in OK anymore, Winstar is. In fact it's the largest in the world. If you ever listen to Dallas area radio they will tell you about it constantly.

I hate gambling in Oklahoma though. Bastards have an ante of $1.00 a hand in blackjack or craps. I remember the rake at the poker tables at Winstar being higher than the the Bellagio 10 years ago.

90% of Oklahoma is a flat desolate ******** inhabited by a special breed of bedazzled jean wearing, coal rolling diesel truck driving, onion ring eatin' redneck. The other 10% in far eastern Oklahoma sill has those people, but at least has beautiful scenery.

Norman has a huge casino. Riverwind. It's one of the ten largest in the US.

Not sure if it's some kinda penis envy thing between tribal leaders, but Oklahoma has 3-4 of the top 10 largest casinos in the US.

I was hoping the wind would make summer tolerable. No. When it's 103 and 20mph winds, all it feels like is someone breathing hit air on you. Great for wildfires though.

I live in Ardmore, just north of the red river on I-35. The Winstar is the largest casino. It’s in Thackerville, right on the red river. Summers are hot and windy, most of the time, more bearable than a humid Mississippi summer. There are casinos nearly everywhere you go, and they range from double wide trailers to large cathedrals. Norman is close enough to OKC that good food is plentiful. The Norman/Moore/OKC area is a pretty nice area. Kinda similar to the Southaven/Memphis area.
