Is Pagosa good for two 25 year old girls (just turned 25) or is it for a different age group? I've been trying to push her to ski Purgatory and to stay in Durango since Durango is a college town.
Appreciate you Dadding up but does she have google fu?

If anyone can get to Alta/Snowbird the next 2 weeks will be epic (sans interlodge) 60+ inches on tap this week and another could be 60+ inches next week.... If it's interlodge head to Solitude the next canyon over avies there aren't nearly as bad and they get open quickly after heavy snows.

LCC is my favorite place to ski in the country but the traffic issue on the canyon road is getting really, really bad, you have to pack your patience there for sure. But Alta/Bird have the best combo of snow quality, snow quantity. terrain quality and travel ease with a major airport nearby of any other place in North America IMO.

I hope Snowbasin makes out well with these storms, I'm thinking of a trip there next month. I don't want to pay Alta/Bird prices without having an Ikon pass. Basin usually gets less snow than the Cottonwoods but so far this year things have been working out well for them in terms of the right storm tracks and getting pretty similar snowfall totals.

How were the lift lines over there
I haven't seen long lines on the 2-3 days I've skied there. It's hard to get to, isn't near any major metro areas and isn't on Ikon or Epic which helps. The drive up from Pagosa can be tricky in weather as the resort is basically right at the mountain pass, good snow tires and 4WD are needed when it's dumping. I'd avoid going there during some of the Texas school district spring break weeks, it's a popular resort for Texans since it's within driving distance, especially from Dallas. Most of the spring breakers will be families and generally have lesser ski abilities though, so if you spend all day in the advanced terrain off the Alberta chair like I do it's probably less of an issue. I've heard the locals don't like Texans very much as they can't ski well nor drive well in winter conditions.

It has a small mountain town vibe. They have some bars and restaurants but I don't think anyone is going to Pagosa for partying, but there are some things to do particularly lots of outdoors activities and of course the hot springs. I suspect they don't have a lot of late-night stuff though, I can't recall as I never went out too late during my trips there.

I have to admit this is the first year in 20 I havent traveled out there to ski. I am in WV. It just kind of ran its course with my posse.
You are correct about all things Texas. We do make it over to the Alberta lift but tend to stay away from the extreme stuff (some of the younger (30 ish) guys do) Me ? I get on Bank Shot and get my *** kicked, that's enough. Our, as a group, favorite run is Tranquility or that neck of the woods, more than enough to keep us happy!
FWIW for the reasons you site, we stay on the S Fork side of the pass, get a nice condo, with free Golf on the Golf course! (LOL its usually under 4' of snow) Not much else to do there, a few dinner places, but really no places to get in any trouble, though we have tried!

but whats the temp?? I noticed some are reporting -15!! and not wind chill!! Thas cold !
For Alta more of a concern will be interlodge for avie control and the red snake leaving the canyon at the end of the day have to go to P-Dogs and have some cold beverages before leaving.

thats ok , IDK if I could handle a -15 (not wind chill)
The cold is centered more up in Montana... For example Bridger Bowl is not opening today its -25 right now. Puts their workers in danger let alone skiers.
