undefeated seasons are rare- and to expect one is foolish. I've been lucky enough to see several, and I'd love to see another, but I don't expect (or demand) it
And we’ve only seen one since we joined the Big and that was before OSU became the juggernaut that they are (and throw in UM now to that group as well). Now with the incoming teams to the conference, we aren’t going to see 12-0 seasons any more.

5k for me too. Where’d your kids go? Did you pay? Do you feel invested in that school in any way?
Daughter graduated North Carolina @ Chapel Hill. We supported her throughout. I feel no connection whatsoever for that school. Guess I’ve worked with too many of their obnoxious supporters for too many years. 🤣
Son decided to go to work and earn money rather than spending time and money at something he didn’t enjoy. 👍

All this tuition talk makes me wish I was paying out of state tuition at PSU rather than my DMV private school….but seriously, it’s less the losses to OSU and UM and more the ones to Minnesota, Iowa, Pitt, MSU, Kentucky, Arkansas, etc. Feels like we’ve turned a corner though. All about QB recruiting….

These days? With NIL? Not that much different from anyone else.

Oh, I don’t know. It’s about more than taking money improperly. It’s about being good citizens, staying out of trouble, committing no acts that bring shame to one heart that loves thy name… and I think under Franklin that’s been as strong as it was under Paterno.

I'll just point out that we had a former payer get caught up in that NFL betting situation recently.... I'm not saying we're bad or anything.--just not exceptional vis-a-vis many other programs. Some of our players do get into trouble (as often happens with kids that age) and aren't good students--and they really don't need to be anymore with NIL. OTOH, we do have many exemplary kids. But so do other programs.

Sure, some kids are going to get into trouble, as you recognize (and Paterno's teams certainly weren't immune). But those are pretty rare instances, and the exceptions rather than the standard. It doesn't bother me that many other programs seem to have also raised their level of honor over what we saw in the past. Honor to me isn't a comparative measure, you either have it or you don't. And I think we do, just as we did with Paterno, and it's something I still take pride in with our program.

I agree. The recent academic ranking of our football program within the BigTen (tied with MSU for 11th) was embarrassing, but overall we are pretty much the same as everyone else. We like to think are better, and other schools like to think we are worse, but in the end there is little difference.

We're obviously good but we'll have to wait and see if we're playoff good. We struggled to run the ball once again in the first half. We haven't seen evidence that our WRs can get deep. Our punting is average at best and our FG kicker missed one and had one blocked (but wiped out by leaping penalty. But with all that said there are only 4 teams who can beat us and two of them (Rutgers and Maryland) are long shots.
How the hell did this team win? So many negatives.

Don’t read into the APR. It is next to meaningless. Two years prior and we had a perfect score, highest in the country.

PSU is where they are expected to be. Nobody knows what will happen down the road.

i think you hit the issues. I think the reason we have run issues is the DEF is playing a strategy that our QB is not a run threat and we do not have a downfield passing game. whether that is WR's are not a threat or we are not even trying, but either way the DEF does not respect the QB run or the deep pass. That puts a lot of bodies near the line. OL is blocking 7-8 people all the time.

Our ST's are good in some areas (KO), and okay in others PR, KR and FG. Punt is very much below avg and would be a weakness in a field position game where the opponent has an OFF that can move the ball some. I know we recruited a 5* punter a few years ago, but he must not have worked out. Current punt game will lose field position in a tight game.

Turnover margin is beyond real. 4 games of not losing a TO - have we ever done that. Can we depend on that continuing? In a game where TO's are not a factor would be more of a test

pre and post snap penalties have impacted drives so would be good to get that cleaned up.
Or your offensive line is mediocre.

….does Iowa just suck that bad?
As Joepa would say, “you’re never as good as ya think you are when you win; and never as bad as you think you are when you lose.“
Here’s hoping he was wrong.
Ohio State won at Notre Dame and pretty much shut down the Irish. Michigan is just rolling along and I don't care who they have played, they're damn good. A split would be great and losing both pretty much defines us as second tier. Win both and whoa Nellie
