I didn’t
You didn't? How the hell did this get in here?

"Yes slow becasue spaniel the ad and bot did not do anything when Joe brought it to their attention. Don’t get me started on mcqueary who at 27 did not go and break it up and take the kid away from Sandusky and call the police. Yet psu paid him 4 million. "

Events that occurred more than ten years before the BoT decided to fire Joe (and is there any evidence that Joe, or anyone else brought these to the BoT's atention?).

They can have you work the two weeks or say we are good thank you for your service today is the last day you need to come in.
Of course they can. If they don't want to pay you, they can immediately terminate you in response to your resignation (contract terms, if one exists, may address this situation.) Just because someone resigns effective a given date, nothing forces the employer to immediately separate them or not permit the employee to continue working until the effective date of their resignation. In this case, the university could have allowed Paterno to finish the season and chose not to that. I don't think anyone involved would claim that decision wasn't driven by anything but the negative PR from the Sandusky mess.

That is on the ad President and head of police services at psu.

Exactly that is what I said. Hr has always demanded of me to make sure we pay that two weeks even though I didn’t have them work.

If you are employed by the university and that is the HR policy, I get it. I didn't know either of those details.

Joyner? Exactly what you are saying.

Joyner was a captain on one of Joe's best teams, as well as a first team All American. What his real relationship was with Joe, I don't know- and I don't believe that anyone here does either.

I do know that I don't believe that any of the great insights posted here are anything more than personal opinions based on hearsay. I'd be as interested as anyone else in having the facts, but I don't expect to ever see them- and certainly not here.

So, you are angry that Paterno was fired for the scandal and somehow Joyner was personally responsible? Did he specifically say or do something publicly to garner the hate?
A f’in snake. Do some research. Mauti would deck him if he saw him again. Enough said.

Mauti would deck Jay too. Enough said.
So f’in what? What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? Joyner is a well-known creep who did all he could to bury Joe as the stoolie for the BOT. You asked why this board doesn’t like Judas, we and Mauti would tell you he’s a snake.

Relax Francis. Don’t get your knickers in a wad. It was a civil conversation before you showed up.

This is the kind of comment that gets made a lot around here. I'd like to know exactly what first hand knowledge you have about this. Howls of outrage from the peanut gallery don't carry any weight with me.

I'm not defending Joyner, because I have no idea what his real role has been in any of this, but it would be stupid to just accept comments like this one at face value.

Joyner fired the fencing coach who was following the new rules and got the university sued over it.

Did you read above. English comprehension?

these are from newspapers!!!!

Joe Paterno resigned, then was fired by Penn State 10 years ago today:

“Paterno had announced he would resign. Twelve hours later he was fired”
Do you know what the word ‘would’ means?

That was Penn live quote from them. I quoted. Here is his resignation. of course you do not remember.
"That's why I have decided to announce my retirement effective at the end of this season. At this moment the Board of Trustees should not spend a single minute discussing my status. They have far more important matters to address. I want to make this as easy for them as I possibly can.

"My goals now are to keep my commitments to my players and staff and finish the season with dignity and determination. And then I will spend the rest of my life doing everything I can to help this University."
"This is a tragedy. It is one of the great sorrows of my life. With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more.

later he told his players. Part of their reaction.
"All the clips you've ever seen of him, you never saw him break down and cry," quarterback Paul Jones said. "And he was crying the whole time today."

Struggling to keep his emotions in check and old school as always in a sweater and tie, Paterno stood in front of his players and coaches Wednesday and said the words many already knew were coming but never thought they'd actually hear. After almost a half-century of head coaching at Penn State, and more victories than any other Division I coach, he was resigning at the end of the season.

Also in this the bs media spin, he said he should have done more. So fire him.

This might honestly be the worst argument I’ve read on this board. I’m not even sure what his angle is, other than just semantics.
Read above. Semanatics? No psu saving it’s *** instead of standing up like others schools have done.

Saving its *** implies psu was at least trying to protect itself. As we found out they were doing the exact opposite.

Fact: he was in debt.

Fact: his handlers on the BOT magically turned him into the AD over night at a ridiculous $$$ amount for someone with no experience.

Fact: he attempted to unilaterally decline a bowl bid.

Fact: he attempted to muzzle all coaches and players regarding the Sandusky Scandal.

Fact: he received a ridiculous consulting agreement after he left from his BoT creep buddies

Fact: he undermined the Paterno legacy as a tool of a corrupt, vengeful BOT

Adds up to someone Penn Staters like myself who built this program do not like. Enough for ya?

What don't you get? Joe had communicated his intent to retire at the end of the 2011 much earlier in the year, months before November 9. Did the BoT can him then? Joe's November 9 announcement was inconsequential. He could have remained silent and the same fate would have befallen him.

And you were in the room? saying "Fact:" doesn't make anything you say a fact, that all may be true, or none of it may be.

I asked for evidence, and you provided a typical internet chat board response- and no, it's not good enough.

Well before news of the Sandusky scandal broke, Paterno expressed his intent to retire at the end of the 2011 season. To whom beyond Tim Curley and, by extension, Graham Spanier, I couldn't say, but have to believe that any number of Board members were aware. While it wasn't public knowledge, it also wasn't a particularly well kept secret.

When news of Sandusky came out, it accelerated Joe going public with his plan to retire. But, the BoT wasn't having it and fired him immediately.
That's right. I live out of state and I got tickets to the final home game that season based on those rumors. Instead of attending a farewell celebration I got the oddity that was the first game after his firing, which will always be the strangest game I've attended. I was flying in when the press conference to fire him was held, and as soon as we landed and everyone turned on their phones the news spread through the plane on the SCE tarmac in seconds.
