Other folks have his name in there as well, but I don't see it. Then again some PSU fans think we are as talented as Bama and a few other schools which is so absurd. I imagine Dabo gets first look, but maybe he is settled into Clemson...who knows.

James has a great agent that puts his name out there to prop up his client. Bama is, in no way, considering Big Game James.

Yeah...because I listen to you. LOL...there are plenty of people ahead of him on that list. Why I didn't remove your stupidity from my sight sooner is my bad. Newsflash a school like Bama backs it HC's and has fans that want to and will pay to win. Psssst, PSU isn't like Bama and it used to be a snobby point of pride.....but now folks do want to win again and think the old status quo will work. The one thing whether James stays or goes eventually...at least he tried to move the program forward in spite of the relics that tried to hinder it.

The conference consolidation and uncertainty in the ACC may factor into Dabo and Norvell pursuing the Bama job.

As of today, Bama and the SEC is a much better bet long term.
Norvell is interesting as FSU is looking to bolt to the Big10, I wonder if he is really interested or does Norvell feel FSU is on a good track and he is ready to ride it out there.

It's not his agent. Writers aren't stupid enough (they aren't ADs, after all) to compile lists based on phone call from agents. They are perfectly capable of making their own shlt up, which is what they are doing in this case.

This is going to be a tough hire for Bama I think. It's a new era for college football and Bama can't tout being coached by the GOAT anymore as a recruiting incentive. Every name out there is risky - Dabo (weird, not embracing current state of college football, thinks Jesus is NIL), Kiffin (aloof, too fond of social media, busy chasing ***, is one for three at running big time college football programs), Sarkisian (has one of the best gigs in college football, likes to drink). Who else is there? Maybe Norvell, but he's not very exciting. Saban had at least won a National Championship at LSU when hired by Bama. I don't think any of the pro guys would go for it. Sure, they can pay anything and will go all in on football, but they're still in Alabama, and Tuscaloosa at that.

From a resource perspective and having things in place.....FSU isn't Bama.

What's so great about Dabo since pretty went to the NFL?
He's been shooting himself in the foot and it may be a reason to not take him. He doesn't like the portal and is being stubborn about it, but if he can win at Clemson...he can win in T-Town.

I hope Bama chooses non of the names being thrown out by the pundits, just to see them double talk their way out of the original predictions.

I almost hope they do hire CJF, and we wins a dozen Nattys there- just to show his haters they were wrong.

Aside from Nick Saban (and Kirby Smart in this particular case, but he ain't leavin' UGa) every coach is a calculated risk. If their choice doesn't work out, welcome to the merry-go-round. Bama has been there before.

Yep. Good for James. If all of the rumored interest is being generated by his agent (and nobody here knows that for sure), he has a competent agent who is helping CJF take care of his family. Living the American Dream! :)
As we pay for his underserved pay raises with higher ticket prices, parking, beverages etc.. keep living that American dream baby..

I've seen DJ Durkin's (former Maryland HC) name floated. Apparently he's been rebuilding his professional life after being fired at Maryland following the player death there. The article acknowledged the impact of that death, but also pointed out Durkin has been an assistant at Bama.

I don't think Durkin ever coached at Bama.
He was the DC at TAMU last year - not even sure if he still has that job with Elko moving in as HC.

Even if he did, he isn't going to be considered for that Bama job anyway

Thanks for clarifying, FTG2. Like you, I doubt he is under serious consideration. Maybe HIS agent floated his name, to increase his marketability.

Bama thinks they are entitled to have the best coach in the country. Right now that is Harbaugh. Watch for Bama to pursue Harbaugh.

I've read that Saban will be involved in the decision- wonder what he thinks of Hairball?

You have no idea about either of these things, but keep posting your made up facts.

Finebaum says top targets (per Tuscaloosa writer) are:

DeBoer
Norvell
Tommy Rees (likely because of Saban’s input)

In a scene oddly reminiscent of a previous head coaching opportunity Manny Diaz resigns from Duke to become head coach at Alabama.
