Based on Saturday, should Joyner have a bigger role?

After the bowl game, he's basically been exiled this year. Comes in cold off the bench against Vandy and complete a pass for a 1st down that turned into a long TD. Also had a run for a 1st down and another pass for a 1st down.

With how stagnant our offense has been all year he appears to provide a little something different.

Not saying he should be the starter or anything, but it seems like getting him there for a series or two could give our offense a new wrinkle.

I swear we've been holding him for the bowl game.

If you saw the Saturday Down South article, they said the same thing. Thought he was out for the year. What happened to that offensive game plan from the Mayo Bowl? You think Joyner would have earned a role in the offense after his performance, but the transfer portal happened.

Yeah, again, not saying he should be the starting QB or anything, but it would appear that he does bring something to the table.

Couldn’t he catch a pass occasionally? Sheesh. Put the ball in the hands of playmakers any way you can do that.

…and if your best playmakers can’t quite understand the playbook, then change it so they can understand. It’s not rocket science.

He couldn't have done much worse then Rattler this year. I did think Rattler had his best game Saturday,
hoping it transfers to the next three games.

Joyner needs to have 4 or 5 plays a game at a minimum but they have to be mixed up. I’m all for putting him in for a couple plays at QB but he needs to be allowed to throw. Too often he was just put in to simply run the ball and teams cheat up on that. Mix it up and passing plays are going to be there.

Yes….as long as you continue to let him throw some to keep that threat real. If we are going to do what we did all last season except for the bowl, and have him simply fake a handoff and run it EVERY DAMN time then no.

We have play makers all over the field. Put the best players on the field and show some creativity to get the ball in their hands. Let them go make plays. When we spread it around like that it makes it that much harder to defend.

They way our offense has struggled I don’t understand why we haven’t mixed Doty in the same way we mixed Joyner in on Saturday. Isn’t Doty supposed to be one of the fastest guys on the team? If nothing else let him make some plays with his feet. Plus, it gives the other team something to scheme for. To win any of our remaining games we’ve got to think WAY outside the box offensively.

There must be a reason why Doty wasn't worked in at all on Saturday but Joyner was.

Yeah, the fact that we're more than likely trying to redshirt him this season. He's already played in 3 games this year, so he can only play one more without burning his redshirt.

I stated the same thing in another thread ... simply having him line up in the wildcat and NEVER passing was ridiculous ... as ridiculous as NOT using Bell as a receiver ... I must have dreamed the Belk Bowl last year with both DKJ and Bell wreaking havoc on the Tarheels defense ...
