Best April Fool's Joke/prank?

Best April Fools ever, but it was no joke. 1976 this album was released. I guess it was a joke in a way. The record label told them they had to come up with something more commercial. They got this.
We had a couple of good ones when I was publisher at Copiah County Courier. My favorite was the 'Copiah Canal', which was to connect the Pearl River at Georgetown with the Mississippi at Port Gibson. We had a map on the front page that showed the canal splitting the county in two and going straight through Hazlehurst. We even had 'quotes' from county leaders and the mayor of Hazlehurst about ecomic development opportunities. Had several phone calls about it, one man said it would take in his pond and he wasn't going to stand for it. Of course the story jumped from front page to page 7, concluding with "the project is set to begin on April 1, unless it's a boondoggle." It's funny how.many people didn't read through to the end.
I'm going to acdc in dallas in 2 weeks w friends. Told them today thay the tour was cancelled. Then one of them told me that he just found out he can't go anyway. So he called my bluff and I fell for it... total april fool backfire.
There were 2 I remember from when I was at school that were done by the school paper (The Reflector?). One year they had a picture of an airplane sticking out the backside of Humphrey Coliseum with an article about the crash. There was a steady stream of people driving by Dudy during practice that day wanting to see it.
Another year they had a picture with a large blue M in the middle Scott Field. The story was that a group of scUM had figured out how to put dye in the sprinkler system to magically paint this M on the football field. Again it was amazing how many people came by to try and see it.
All this was well before Photoshop and was actually done pretty well.

While in school at MSU, a friend had just gotten into turkey hunting. He was on fire to get his first bird and was putting in a ton of time scouting. On March 31, he told me all about this bird he had worked on the refuge. He gave me very specific location information. I concocted a plan as he was talking. I let him finish the story and then I complained about how busy I was and that I wouldn’t be able to hunt for at least another week.
Fast forward to the next afternoon. I call one of our mutual friends who also hunts. I told him to call the newbie and tell him about the giant turkey that I killed on the refuge that morning. As expected, the guy starts asking about location and he describes just the right place.
The newbie was ready to murder me. About 3 hours later I get a call from his roommate telling me that I better call and explain myself. My ribs were hurting from the laughter. I told the roommate that it was an April Fools joke and I thought he’d pass out from the hysteria.
I have NEVER gotten anyone so good with a prank since then. He believed it so much that he thought I was lying that it was a joke.

The best prank I have participated in was on a friend of our group. This was when everyone checked social media on their laptop in college (2009-2011). Our buddy leaves the apartment, and we post on his Facebook page "I am excited to tell the world I am coming out gay." I then suggest we change his interest from women to men. He comes in sees our post gets mad but completely misses the interest in change.
Fast forward two years later. We get a group text from him, and he is very angry. He had recently discovered the change we made and had been trying to figure out why he had been getting messages from gay guys for the last two years. He later told me that about four guys had outed themselves to him in North Mississippi.

We been living in April Fool's Day for three years as Miss State sports fans and us fools are making people rich.
