... by looking at the going ticket prices on ESPN. Tickets as low as $102.00. Next most expensive ticket Thursday night? Penn State vs. Purdue @ $28.00. For the whole weekend the most expensive is ND vs. OSU @ $282.00.

Typical home in PA on Thursday night, with pitt on every TV:

Pete: Mr. Pickett, sir?

Mr. Pickett: Yeah Pete.

Pete: At halftime can we watch some of the Penn State – Purdue game?

Mr. Pickett: There’s only one team we watch in this house.

*cue pitt fight song*

Over the years Pitt has been able to sell out for only 3 games, Pitt vs Penn State, Pitt vs West Virginia and Pitt vs Notre Dame. All three are sell outs because fans of the other team buy a lot of tickets which generates some interest from Pitt fans. So this week features one of the games that Pitt will sell out. There will be a lot of West Virginia fans and more Pitt fans than normal. It is just bad timing to have this game go against the PSU vs Purdue game.

Much like PSU-Pitt, WVU-PItt is a game that should be played yearly, all this realignment BS has killed rivalries.

Have a feeling the "Backyard Brawl" will destroy PSU-Purdue in the ratings, hate that both games are Thursday night honestly.

That could potentially be good news if it were to happen. If PSU were to be losing, Joe average fan wants to watch big name team go down. Less allure if said big name team is winning.

Vegas has PSU at 3% to win the B1G - behind OSU, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

#1 the schools are less than 90 minutes apart.
#2 old rivals

Just because tickets are selling doesn't mean the viewers will be drastically different. I figure our game does a better rating.

Yes, the pitters game with WVU is the biggest game in the country for those living within a 40 mile radius of the soot-covered Catherdral of Learning. Outside of that radius nobody will pay any attention to this MAC level game.

it's been sold out for almost a month now.

As expected, the 2022 edition of the Backyard Brawl between West Virginia and Pitt has been sold out. Friday morning, Pitt officially announced that all seated tickets have been bought up for the game. However, standing room only tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. this morning, which can be purchased here.

This will be the first time the two schools have met since departing from the Big East following the 2011 season. West Virginia has dominated the series of late, winning seven of the last ten meetings and 16 of the last 23, including the last three games.

ESPN's College GameDay will be making a special trip to Pittsburgh to host a one hour show leading up to the 7 p.m. EST kickoff.

Anything’s possible but games on network TV invariably get better ratings than those on cable and WVU/Pitt ain’t the one on FOX. Also Big Ten games generally outperform games from the ACC or Big 12

You do realize Ohio State opened up on Thursday last year, right? I don’t believe Ohio State was 7-6 the previous year, but I could be wrong.

Penn State laughs at T™️osu.
