All that being said, will 7-5 to 8-4 be seen as righting the ship? Remember, that's after losing 5 out of the last 7 games last year. IMO expecting a Michigan State type turn around in one year is a bit optimistic.
I thought Allar's accuracy was pretty bad. Maybe he was confused with all the Penn State jerseys.
You are right about one thing ...you don't think.. 10 more years!Clifford is going to be the Achilles of the 2022 PSU team.
Unfortunately I don’t think Franklin has the mental or intestinal fortitude to do the right thing.
I agree on attendance…40k max…disappointing…I suspect the Franklin act is wearing thin…for those of us that thought/hoped Allar would rescue 2022…I think we can forget about that…it looks like the mediocrity will continue…sad…especially at the price being paid for the head coach.Every year they announce crowds based upon "coverage", but I've been at 25+ B/W games and the density averages only about 50%. Sure the seat back section (very small) is 90%+, but the upper sides are usually way less than 50% on a great attendance year, which this was not. I didn't go today, but from the TV giving a few glimpses the crowd looked like 30K to me. Nobody upstairs in the end zones at all the sides had big empty areas on the top and corners, and the density looked less than for many other B/W games......... But who really cares. There were enough fans there to make a good atmosphere, to get loud reactions for good plays, and to make enough of an atmosphere for the recruits in attendance......
Only watched a replay, but..
- thought the OL looked decent on run blocking as well as pass blocking
- RB's looked good, but without true tackling who knows how many tackles they might have broken. Wonder where Holmes was.....
- secondary looked pretty good, but there were lots of open receivers as well.
- Tinsley looks good, and Saunders got a lot of chances and looks like a 2022 contributor. KLS looked more sure handed and Dottin made some plays. The "sleeper" or breakout player may be #85 Wallace who made a spectacular catch going up high to snag it.
- Veilleux is the 2022 backup QB. He looks good and for my money he looks more accurate than Clifford. The young QB's are just that, young, and have a good ways to go.....
- DL looks deep, but pass rush was nothing outstanding. But there is good competition. I believe #51 Beamon started and Millen was raving about him. Have to hope he knows what he's talking about. Mustipher said he was ahead of schedule on his rehab and implied he will be more than ready by Fall.
I believe the smaller crowd was a result of the scrimmage format, with Franklin announcing that there would be "thud" periods and extended special team sessions. Fans want to see game type action to see the starters, and get a good look at the younger players to see if there are any breakout stars.I agree on attendance…40k max…disappointing…I suspect the Franklin act is wearing thin…for those of us that thought/hoped Allar would rescue 2022…I think we can forget about that…it looks like the mediocrity will continue…sad…especially at the price being paid for the head coach.
Agree - Franklin did what he had to because of OL player availabilityI believe the smaller crowd was a result of the scrimmage format, with Franklin announcing that there would be "thud" periods and extended special team sessions. But in watching the TV broadcast I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of game action from which to make observations on the starters and some of the younger players. The smaller crowd and Franklin's goal of a great atmosphere for the recruits in attendance will likely direct him back to more of a "game" for future B/W weekends when that is possible. With the transfer of the backup olinemen (Holmes,....) and the late arrival of the one incoming OL transfer he really didn't have much choice this year.
But it hasn’t hit earth yet?
I haven’t watched the whole game, but Allar’s arm is LIVE. His first INT wasn’t his fault; pass hit the WR in the hands and bounced right into the arms of the defender. It’s hard to get a read on how good we might be but skill positions look solid, and worried about LB/DL/OL/coaching.

Neither did Jameson Williams, before his transfer. Not saying this kid performs similarly elsewhere, but too much talent happens.Potter played snaps at both defensive end and tackle in the spring game and performed well, recording six total tackles with two sacks. Still, he did not have a clear path to playing time on Ohio State’s defensive line this season, with Zach Harrison, J.T. Tuimoloau, Jack Sawyer, Javontae Jean-Baptiste and Tyler Friday all likely to be ahead of him on the depth chart at defensive end, where he spent most of his time this spring.

Side note. Fleming missed the spring game. Injuries again. Can't keep healthy.
Bama just got a kid out of Louisville at WR. Can they strike gold twice?I cut and pasted from 11 Warriors article. Never know, but guys like Williams have been the transfer rule exception for the most part.
Your take is mine . That construction appears to be an exit to nowhere?First, I've been to A LOT of B/W games. This one was tough to watch. I rarely post observations, but here goes:
It was really difficult for me to enjoy this format as a fan. I understand and respect why they SAY they did it. Just wasn't fan-friendly. If it makes us better in the fall, well done JF. If they continue with this format, just call it an open practice. That said, I was uninspired by the offense. Take away the WR drops, Allar looks a lot different. One of the #9's will be OK, just couldn't tell who I was watching. I was surprised that Kaytron seemed to get a lot of touches. We've got a ton of potential at both QB and RB. Thought the kicker Sahaydak's kicks looked good.
Again, in the hard to follow category, did the TE's drop a lot of passes? Looked like it to me, but hard to tell, because I couldn't download the roster. Zero internet connections.
I think the o-line and the defensive backfield will look a lot different in the fall when all are healthy-ish. I still have high hopes for Joey Porter JR. Hoping Parker Washington adds to the WR production too. They just seemed out of sync.
The weather was great for the game. A good family day. Had I known the weather was going to be that nice, I would have planned a better day and I would have used sunscreen on my face....ouch.
The parking plan was bad. I got in late AM, parked and shopped downtown for a while, then went to the stadium. I drove through campus to avoid the Park Ave backup. Good plan. The people that parked next to us were in line on Park for 3 hours (so they said).
There were not 62K there. I'll guess they said 62K because OSU announced 60K. As usual, there were a lot of people in the lots that never went in the stadium. I don't think I've ever seen this many falling-down drunks at a BW game.
? for anybody in the know, the construction on I80 to the East of Lamar, are they adding better merge options from I99 there? Or is that still in the works.
I wrote East of Lamar, which is obviously wrong. It's West. You're right though, if you look at it on Google Maps, there is absolutely nothing there except farms and forest. Seems like a long way from the current interchange.Your take is mine . That construction appears to be an exit to nowhere?
My guess would be a future industrial park.I wrote East of Lamar, which is obviously wrong. It's West. You're right though, if you look at it on Google Maps, there is absolutely nothing there except farms and forest. Seems like a long way from the current interchange.
