Well the thread was about baseball. But I do agree in general. Baseball is fine, basketball is adequate, football is poor. This is a reality that a lot of you better get comfortable with.I'm not talking just baseball, look at all the sports. "Adequate" is getting us killed in men's athletics. Basketball was adequate, but that's about all you can say about it. We're in the bottom 6 of this conference in men's athletics. OM isn't and they're in this same state and running a strong athletic program. Keenum is so overly conservative and of the Templeton mold that it's hurting us.
This isn't 2007, where spending money on facilities and coaches yielded a big result. We have serious expenses now, it's a different era. And honestly, even back then, the biggest hindrances was bad coaches rather than actual money. And a bad AD.Everyone is in that boat. Everyone is spending more than they're taking in minus the true blue bloods and some of those are. We can't get stuck in the Templeton and Cohen mindsets here. We've got to do whatever it takes to stay at the top level of college athletics or we can move to CUSA.
It's as simple as that, yet again. Ya'll trying to blame it on money but it's the same story it's always been. We are going to have to get creative.
