Expected. Likely Ebeketie next.

Looking ahead to 2022 with nothing much on the line in this bowl game the staff may as well get a great look at the younger players so that their development in the Winter S&C program as well as Spring practices focuses on their shortcomings. Playing the younger players may also help the staff fine tune Portal priorities, although the staff seems to have that already completed.......

The other announcement I'm hoping for is Mustipher's return for 2022, although his decision on returning or not may not come for a while.....

Smart. But I thought you don’t following kids on social media?
You are dumber than I thought. First, if you are responding to me reply to my post or @ me. Second, I follow PSU reporters that retweet what the players Tweet and pass it along here, you dipsh!t. Each of your posts get more idiotic by the day.

Staples is an idiot. Incentivize them for one game? How much are you going to pay a potential #1 draft pick playing in a non-playoff game? Offer would have to be pretty sweet to get them to take it over the huge NFL payout. Might work for some of the mid to late round draft kids, but is one game really going to make or break it for them? One more game of tape doesn’t seem like it will make that much difference. This is a business decision for most kids and good luck paying them enough money to decide to play in a meaningless bowl game. Bowls are for fans and younger player development. Unless you are Notre Dame - then they are for choking in spectacular fashion.

Nope....They are opting out for BIG money reasons, not appearance fee pocket change.
Note that Finebaum says the idea came from some other guy. Finebaum is getting easy clicks with no downside. As for me, what I’ve read here has convinced me that this is an incredibly futile and stupid proposition.

I hate this opt out BS..
Well you are going to have to get used to it. Frankly, if a kid is turning pro, I have no problem with it unless someone opts out of the playoffs. I also think that if PSU were one of the 4 teams in the playoffs, none of them would opt out. I guess some people will get all worked up about whether PSU beats Arkansas in the Outback Bowl. While I hope they win, I would much rather see young players get a chance to play and build for next season. I also don’t think there is much difference between 8-5 or 7-6. With all the cancellations due to covid, let’s hope they play the game.

Not surprising. Most of these guys have been treated as spoiled prima donnas since an early age. Similar to most of the rest of this modern society, everything is about the almighty dollar. No regard for fans, team mates, the institution, it’s all about me me me.
The only thing I don’t get is why anyone would travel to the sh.. hole that is florida to watch this.

I’d love to agree with you but imagine you are the parent of one of these kids - like Dotson. His mother is fighting cancer again. So he plays the meaningless bowl game to make you happy (gotta have ‘fans’ at the forefront), blows out a knee and goes from 1st round pick money to 6th round. Yep. Glad he played. Hope it made you feel better. Grow up and stop feeling entitled man. These kids gave it their all and put their bodies on the line for 12 games a year for 3 or 4 years. They’ve earned the right to make a living - sorry if that disappoints you.

You're speaking about Brent Pry, correct?

Since college football is essentially becoming a semi-pro sport I think there needs to be a contract between the athlete and the school. The school provides a grant in aid and additional renumeration and support as allowed and the player agrees to participate in all football related activities including practices and games. A player of course can choose to not sign such a contract and still be a team member if the school so chooses. As such the player and school can act in any way they choose. When you combine NIL and the portal players are essentially free agents that can leave a team at any time they want even during the season for a better deal. Sounds like total chaos coming. The pendulum has swung way to far to the players. There needs to be some accountability to the school on the part of the player. Some kind of balance will have to be established if the sport is to survive.

Aren’t scholarships renewable on a year by year? SEC schools have been ‘processing’ kids for years. Been here 3 years and not in the 2 deep? No more scholarship. Schools have some power here and have exercised it before. We even do it with the end of year talks between coaches and players about moving on. It’s a mutual relationship that can be swung either way by either the school or player.

True but schools can't pull a grant in aid mid-season. Players can now enter the portal at any time.

Schools and the NCAA had a chance to do something like that and punted foolishly hoping/believing they could keep passing off a free education as fair value for what they players do and the market corrected itself. No going back.

Not sure if you caught this Rude. I just happened to be flipping channels and caught it. Although this show is usually politics, he keeps it on football and particularly Saving the Roar. It includes McGloin, Mauti, and Jordan Hill.

Get use to it, I could Invision in the very near future, the NFL will cut a deal with the NCAA to permit players be eligible for the draft following attendance at three college semesters.
