Auburn series is probably the toughest to get even one from. Ole Miss and UK are both at Dudy Noble, but certainly nothing easy in any of those 9 games. I lean toward no the dawgs don't get it done. 5-4 from those three series feels like too much to ask from this team.

No idea whether or not he can get 5.

But he actually needs a minimum of 6. So, whatever the chances were….it just got 20% more difficult.

If we could know two things:
  1. We don’t get swept.
  2. We sweep Mizzou.
I would feel good.

That would get us to 12 wins with 6 more games to work with.

Yesterday's win vs Florida did just enough to keep me paying attention. I was pretty close to being 100% checked out.

The biggest thing about Sunday was it was a sign that players haven't given up yet. So we're still in this for the time being. Our physical talent isn't the problem. These mental lapses and pass balls at home plate are killing us.

There is still a chance. The bigger problem is that Mississippi State baseball is in this situation. I don't care to get into the "new era of SEC" and where we stand comparisons. We should not be in this situation here, and it's every year. Maybe we won't be consistently top of the league every year again, but bottom 3 or DFL is ridiculous.

Given Joe Powell's day yesterday, and he actually threw out a runner, do we even see Highfill the rest of the year?

Powell has a better average, but Highfill has a better slugging percentage (2 HR in 20 AB) and on-base percentage (8 free passes). He also steals bases.

Yes, but how do they compare defensively, specifically on Passed Balls?

ONE HUNDRED PERCENT we will be Mizzou’s first conference win, and it will keep us out of the postseason. That’s definitely happening, nothing more tailor made for MSU than that.
Yes, that would be the most MState thing ever is that Mizzou will go 1-29 with their only conference win coming against us and that loss will keep us out of the postseason. Mark this down, this is what will happen (assuming we still have a shot at postseason by the time we get to Mizzou).

This is no keep lemons paragraph, but i gotta say that I did see the fight still in Chris Lemonis Saturday night during the game, arguing with the ump, then the postgame speech to the players, then the postgame radio interview. I saw and heard the fight is still in him.

State gets to game 30 in SEC sitting at 12-17 and it gets rained out
Wins one game in Hoover
Finishes 13-18 and gets left at home

I like Lemonis personally but just don't think he really knows what to do at this stage to have and keep a good program. Can't believe after the disaster we had in 2022 and 2023 that we let him stay on and things were looking better in 2024 (even though we didn't get to host), only to have the whole thing right back near the 22/23 levels this year. And our talent level is better than we are playing. Sad state of affairs.
One of the worst things ever for MSU was Cohen choosing to leave his position as head baseball coach to be the AD. He would have kept us good in baseball I firmly believe but he sucked as an AD. I still can't believe Auburn wanted him but their boosters pretty much tell him who to hire and fire over there anyway.
