buy/sell - the NINJA has a backup plan for Dan if he leaves

The rumor I've heard from a good source is that the Ninja withdrew some of Mullen's DNA in the dead of the night, and he's working on a clone as we speak. For that matter, he plans to have the process perfected by January 5 (per TheBigDA), and he's going to fire Mullen and his staff and replace them with 10 Mullen clones to handle all coaching responsibilities at MSU. The best part about this plan is that I hear he's working on a legal arrangement where he will own all rights to the clones he creates, and therefore he will receive their services for free. He may even sell a few of them to neighboring schools for profit. So he'll simultaneously cut costs and increase revenues at the same time.
Of course the best part is when you make a clone of a clone, it's automatically dumber than the previous one. It's a scientific fact. I know this because I saw Multiplicity with Michael Keaton. Therefore, Byrne will effectively be the only person, outside of Mullen himself that will be able to clone Dan Mullen and get an intelligent Dan Mullen. Those schools that purchase a Mullen from Byrne will not be able to clone their Mullen clone with similar results. This basically gives Byrne a monopoly on the Mullen clone business. It's pure genius. But as usual, take it for what it's worth. It's only a rumor at this point, and I can't claim that it's 100% true.

He should have a list for every coach we have. Head coaches and assistants. Or some reliable method of finding a list of replacements quickly.

At least not a formal list as of a week ago. He probably is always in the know enough to have an idea of hey, that guy would work if we needed somebody, but I'm guessing he didn't expect to have to deal with this until next year. By next week, though, he may have 17ing option contracts on 3 or 4 coaches.

more appealing now than it was when Petersen was offered the first time? 7-5 next year would leave people ho hum and wouldn't have people beating down the door with job offers. Too much credit would go to Mullen. Also, you've got one year before you have to replace a significant number of starters on each side of the ball.

Buy. Yes there would be increased expectations, but still, some of us are ready to build a statue of Mullen after a 5-7 season. It's not like you're gonna get fired for 7-5. Ever. I don't think low expectations was ever a selling point to anyone. What did we really have going for us a year ago? That we are in the SEC and pay well? Clearly there is a fanbase that will support a good coach, whereas that was probably an unknown (especially to an outsider) after the Croom era.
If our military has plans for the invasion of Canada, surely The Ninja has a plan B for our head coach.
is the Ninja more prepared then we even thought? wasn't it the consensus that Hudspeth was more a Byrne hire than a Mullen one? what if he knew the day he hired Mullen he already had a guy to replace him.
Main reason he was hired was to get him ready in case Mullen left early like Meyer did at Bowling Green and Utah. Looks like Hud will get another year to soak up what ever he can learn from Mullen. Of course I hope we have Mullen much longer than one more year, but who knows..........
