As an elementary school boy, I remember it used to start on the school bus going back and forth to school - intense drama, jealousy and confrontations. Because I was very young and inexperienced - I didn't quite understand it. Boys used to fight on the bus but later that day or week they were playing together on the School Playground. But the girls stretched out their resentment toward each other pretty much throughout the whole school year. Only during summer break is when things cooled down unless they lived down the street from each other.

I don't know what "great white hope" means? If it means looking for a great white player to be the best, it came before Caitlin. Stewart is more than likely the best white or black or hispanic or asian or whatever label you want to give of all time. She 4 national titles at UCONN, many awards in the NCAA and WNBA. She has been labeled by ESPN as the #1 player in the WNBA.

If I were starting an WNBA team and I could pick 5 from players in the league to form my base, It would start with Stewie. Then A'ja, Caitlin, Plum, & Boston. Then add players around to compliment the team and fill in holes like the Wing/SF positions.

They are out there. My father and sister have been trying to get me to give it a chance for years. My Dad is a former high school basketball coach and prefers the women's game right now due them paying more attention to the fundamentals of the game. I have been steadily giving the Women's game more of a chance as our Women's team emerged in national prominence. I really started watching a lot of the other college teams this year due to my frustration with the Men's College Game (Too much Turnover, The Really Good players only stay one year, etc.). In watching those women's games this year, I started to see that it was a good product if you got over their lack of athleticism as opposed to the men. They run more team oriented offense because they can't just take it to the hole and dunk on someone. So, this year I have been giving the WNBA a chance and it's not bad. Gives you a sport to watch if you are not really into baseball. My observation is only anecdotal, but their fans usually tend to be hoopers, older men, LGBTQ community.

I agree with the more fundamentally sound aspect. I actually thought more of the women's game back in the 90s when I lived in Tennessee and the Lady Vols were all the rage. They were just technically sound. However, at some point, if you're watching athletics, you just want to see athleticism. Plays like the below are just :yawn:



If there could be a happy medium between athleticism and fundamentals, that would be great. The NBA skews wildly to pure athleticism over fundamentals while the wNBA skews wildly to fundamentals over athleticism.

It is what it is. The lack of athleticism is probably why I didn't bother to follow it for so long. However, it's something with it being in the summertime. I just can't get through a baseball game. Haven't since the 1990's. My life is just not that slow to deal with that anymore.

There you are again! I don’t care for it at all! Let’s see, I am a 78 year old grandfather of eleven. Couldn’t really claim to be L,G, B, T, or Q. I think this whole thing and the Iowa fan base behavior is horrible. So do many others. So….i guess they probably might too.
