No they are conference opponents. A$$ Hall in Bloomington has earned it's nickname. And, like another poster said, Bobby Knight is not walking through that door. There has been no rivalry since he left. They are irrelevant to UK.

I respect agree to disagree. But I do not view it as "take my ball and go home". They seriously injured UK fans and placed fans and players in danger. Don't know if you were around then, but it happened. Cal offered to play neutral court games, like most of the rivalry, but Crean and IU refused. So, piss on them.
No different than what happened last night at UNC or any other time a court is stormed. Look at the photo posted earlier of Scheyer. Google the photo of Tyler Hansbrough with a bloody face. Do you think they want to cancel their rivalry?
It’s only hyped on espn due to the amount Duke/UNC alumni associated with the network. Let Ohio st/Michigan football fans have a network that will become the greatest rivalry in sports, uk/louisville basketball the same. I’m not sure another two schools have the same rivalry in both sports as UK/Louisville do in basketball and football. Zero hype for UNC/Duke football matchup or Ohio st/michigan basketball, at least that I’m aware of. But may just seem that way due to our rooting interest.
Bingo! ESPIN even restricted their employees from even talking about the academic scandal at UNC a few years back. I know, because I literally witnessed it live, while watching. One guy told Schapp that they couldn’t talk about the scandal on air. It was quite incredible.
Yes it was quite a bit different. Storming the court to celebrate is one thing but with no regard to players or even worse with intent to harm is another. Many UK fans that attended that game spoke of their treatment there and it wasn’t normal rival fan engagement, it was rather dangerous actually. I’m no cal fan but I don’t blame him for not taking the team back to Bloomington.
They won their last championship 9 years ago. Ours was 14 years ago. Are we already there?

They had lost a ton of targets before that and UNC fans blame football. Their own fans are thinking along the lines of what I am. They’re not happy with the administration at all.

Very curious. I live in NC and most of my close friends are UNC fans - many with season tickets and I have never heard that. Additionally, UNC is preparing to either spend $600 million to refurbish the Dean Dome or build a new arena altogether. There’s a big debate among fans. Sounds like they’re really strapped for cash.

Carolina grad here. I wasn’t a fan of the court storming, but it’s hard to see how we’re teetering on losing blue blood status. We’ve literally been in three title games since the last time Duke made an appearance. Consistency has been an issue for sure, but it’s not like we’ve had an IU type of drought when it comes to success.
Hey, it’s just something I see happening as time moves on obviously I’m not a fortune teller. But I do know and have talked to some UNC guys online that are worried about it and they were shocked Kentucky didn’t outbid for Wilson. So it’s a real concern. Now they’re storming courts for Bering Duke and trying to put a lot into football so, just think the days ofnUNC winning titles in basketball may be over. Not something I like actually I hate the NIL and emphasis on football.
Yes he was and I wish we had not renewed the series. They needed us. We did not need them. I would have rather started a series with someone else.
