I love this….

eagles fans are the worst and no other fan bases are bad

Untrue. Here’s a study that shows eagles fans are really middle of the pack

I don’t like how that study was conducted so it’s not true

as with everything else in life, I’m sure the answer is somewhere in the middle. Having been to a few games in a few stadiums, I can tell you that EVERY fan has a-holes. However I feel like the perpetual media cycle regarding the same tired stories of eagles fans keeps them at the forefront of groupthink when it comes to fan behavior. I mean seriously, people still bring up booing Santa Claus, nevermind that the true story has been public knowledge for a LONG….. LONG time. The original Santa couldn’t make it, so they chose a fan in a bad costume, and the scheduled float couldn’t be wheeled into Franklin field because of the weather, and the team sucked, and per the eagles PR director, “was the worst-looking Santa I'd ever seen. Bad suit, scraggly beard. I'm not sure whether he was drunk, but he appeared to be.”

But by all means, it’s all because the fans are a-holes….

Sounds eerily familiar to some things I hear from other fan bases about PSU and a former defensive coordinator. It’s almost as if their fandom clouds their judgement and they become emotional about it, regardless of what’s come to light about everything. Hmm…..

First off, that "study" in the article is horrific in it's methodology. But if we were to use it's results, is this really the study to prove that I'm wrong in saying that bad behavior is more widespread at Eagles games than elsewhere when the article states the following...

As for witnessing an act of violence or worse still, being the victim of one, Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia has the worst reputation of all with 63.2% of respondents having witnessed a crime.
Eagles fans suck so bad they powered through the horrible methodology to still win 1st (last) place

I guess we can all pick and choose the information we want to be true/important. Check out this article. Chiefs fans are awesome. Midwest nice. I know, it didn't happen at a game so it doesn't count. But if it happened in Philadelphia some would want the Eagles tossed from the NFL.

KC Parade Shooting
That Midwest awe shucks nice thing is BS. Iowa fans are Exhibit A.

The study is horrible...it's small, the questions are very generic ("have you seen issues at a game"...obviously someone that's been to 200 games is more likely than someone that has been to 2 games), etc. But again, isn't it ironic that someone would use this study to prove that Eagles fans are fine when it calls out in it that they've had the highest percentage of seeing a crime?

as with everything else in life, I’m sure the answer is somewhere in the middle. Having been to a few games in a few stadiums, I can tell you that EVERY fan has a-holes.
Of course every fanbase has aholes. My personal experience very much mirrors those that I hear from others (both Eagles fans and non-Eagles fans). Personally, I've been to 5 NFL stadiums and there were more issues at the Eagles game than at the other 4 stadiums combined. I've had no real issues in wearing opposing gear in other NFL, College football, college basketball, NBA, or MLB games...but the Eagles culture is different. The fact that someone got shot at a parade in KC doesn't change that. The only 2 stadiums that I'd turn down a free ticket to see my team play at are the Linc and Estadio Azteca.

Everything about Santa Claus, a court in the stadium, etc is BS. Who the F cares about any of that? I'm talking about actual treatment of visiting fans in parking lots and inside the stadium...and not fans that are looking for problems, just fans that wear their teams gear and are looking to watch the game. It's bad in Philly...maybe there are other places where it's equally as bad, but not that I've seen in my travels.
Sounds eerily familiar to some things I hear from other fan bases about PSU and a former defensive coordinator. It’s almost as if their fandom clouds their judgement and they become emotional about it, regardless of what’s come to light about everything. Hmm…..
I'm about the least emotional person you could ever meet when it comes to this type of thing, so I can assure you that it's not where I'm coming from. And I have a huge issue with the treatment of visiting fans at PSU with some of our bad incidents (the OSU band treatment in 2005, the Nebraska hat incident in 2002, the awful behavior at the Frat in the late 2000s, etc). It shouldn't be accepted/normalized...we should be calling out awful behavior, and not deflecting or pointing to fans being bad elsewhere.

I was at a Phillies AT Pirates game at PNC Park. The Phillies were good and the Pirates, well, they're the Pirates. With the price of tickets much cheaper for Pirates home games than Phillies home games, there were A LOT of Phillies fans at the game.

Two Phillies fans started arguing about Ryan Howard. Sure enough, they started fighting one another, and they weren't drunk. I've witnessed up close drunken Cleveland Browns fans fight one another.

Or wearing masks or helmets. Who would want to watch an entire game through a mask?
So, are the four guys in the West stands of Beaver Stadium who dress in all white uni’s dumb, or not dumb? (I forget their names)

The Big Uglies

And I vote for not dumb…people should wear whatever the hell they want to a game. I stopped caring about what others thought about how I dressed about 30 years ago.

Frank Rizzo approves........
When you look at the footage that started this thread, it’s not to hard to realize the punks causing the problems didn’t see the inside of the stadium. They don’t go down to the stadium complex to go to the games, they go to stir up trouble. For them, it’s entertainment which is pretty sad As you well know. It speaks to greater issues that will never change Unfortunately. They are always swarming around down there creating problems. Same for the impromptu gatherings on Broad Street. We have this problem in Pittsburgh to a certain extent where after a game, the wild youth feel like it’s their right to be more than a nuisance. Thankfully not nearly as bad as in Philly. Tgar only had one altercation outside Heinz Field because he happened to have made a poor choice of knit caps to wear going to a playoff game against Baltimore. It was a moment, but it was also with young fans going to the game.

Take a drive up North Broad on your way to Temple one day and hope you don’t get surrounded by 20 to 30 of these ******** either on bikes or dirt bikes in the middle of the afternoon marginalizing your ability to drive and not to run them over and get to where you are going without getting into a situation. When they start damaging everyone’s cars and harassing people it becomes a big problem and from what I know, the Philly cops are years past having any love for these knuckleheads.

The pendulum always swings and in Philly it has taken a hard swing in the direction of trouble. Tgar made the mistake of going to a Free Fourth of July Celebration one summer with Lionel Richie headlining. Yeah, it looked great on TV, but down the Parkway where Tgar was trying to enjoy the moment, it was sketchy as hell. People wanting their turf.

There hasn’t been a mayor in Philly since Frank that can get control of the wilding. The police always resort to the one tactic that quells the problem Temporarily until the next reason to gather and create a nuisance. It is unfortunate but not surprising.
