brobible ?
That's the source ?
Did you read the story
A senior writer for TigerNet, David Hood has been following Clemson sports for some time. Just looking at his X (formerly Twitter) bio, you’ll see he’s the “longest-tenured writer covering Clemson for the same publication.”

With that being said, he’s typically a knowledgeable source when it comes to breaking news in the upstate of South Carolina.

Earlier this week, reports began to surface claiming a potential departure from the ACC for the Tigers, first posted by Post and Courier writer Gene Sapakoff.

In that story, Sapakoff quoted a source who told him that a move would be made “sooner than later,” with eyes on a possible October decision date.

Later rumors then picked up steam, linking Clemson to three other ACC programs as a “block of four.”

Most projected a desired landing spot in the SEC with schools continuing to grow unhappy with media revenue within the league. Being locked into a Grant of Rights agreement through 2036, the ACC has fallen behind other Power Five conferences in television money.

Hood doesn’t agree with that storyline, shutting down the realignment rumors surrounding Clemson.

“I know a lot of people have seen the reports the past few days that would indicate a decision on Clemson’s future plans is imminent,” he wrote. “I have been quiet because I wanted to make sure the info I had was correct… I think I have a good sense of where Clemson stands.

He went on to quote a trusted source who said, “Point blank, that there is no invite from another league and that Clemson doesn’t expect to announce any sort of future plans by the end of football season.”

All it says is that there has been no invitation from another league. There are all kinds of ways to to massage that into a technical truth that means nothing to the final outcome. In fact, virtually EVERY such denial during these seasons of expansion have not portended what actually happened.

Clemson has been leaving the ACC for the SEC since 2012. I guess eventually it might turn out to be true. But we may not live to see it. 😂

I'm almost 73. As far as I know, I am in decent health. I hope you are well also. The key here is can they leave soon and not in 2036. If so, I expect we will see them leave and I expect we will see them land in the SEC.

I'm telling you this much, the B1G is serious about having Top Tier research universities. There are ACC schools they will want - three in particular. But the two that played each other this past weekend are of lesser appeal to them. I think its the SEC for them.

Don't misunderstand, I think that, even at 16 teams, the SEC will be a great league. We are adding two legitimate legacy programs. It depends on whether there is additional money per school to be made if expansion goes further, as it already has in the B1G. If you let other major conferences outnumber you too badly, think of how that could handicap you when it comes time to set the CFP field.

Sapakoff and BroBible are pretty equivalent as a source.
I don't know how seriously to take College Sports Corner, either, but these reports have a certain plausibility about them. I guess that is good for some reposts.

David Hood is a clown. He's the guy that posed the bs question to Dabo that prompted the scripted rant.

This seems oddly familiar. They say they are going to do something then goes back on their word.

Not exactly what is happening here. David Hood has just taken a political approach to his reporting. He only disagrees with the timeline.

I find it interesting that there are reports from Larry and fans that graham Neff and Jim Phillips were seen arguing in the sideline during pregame.

Agree. There can not be an "official invitation" by any conference as no conference wants to be sued for "tortuous interference with a contract." There could be a tacit understanding between a school and a conference (probably through third parties) based on the school getting out of the GOR or getting a good settlement agreement regarding the GOR.

I’ll also add that David hood does what Clemson tells him. He is the writer they control. So if they wanted to temper the smoke that is who they would use to release a “statement” but not formally from the school. My understanding is there are still eggs left to drop. Everyone wants an answer now but something this complicated takes a long time to figure out. Even more so than OU and TX.

I’ll agree with that. OU/TX wanted out of the B12 for a while. And as you said, this situation feels much messier.

Agree, much messier.
Legalities
Cost
Division at CU on leaving ACC - some want out on the money side, others don't on the competition side
Barriers - SEC members against expansion
