Another example of a big time player from Mississippi, who grew up a MSU Baseball fan that was not recruited by the former staff.

Dandy Dozen, 14 HR at MCC, signed with Tulane....there was no reason a kid like that should have ever signed with Tulane if the former staff would have recruited like they should!....Glad we now have Cohen, Burroughs, and Thompson!!!!

hit a grand slam to beat us in a regional one year (vs Tulane)? I always heard Polk didn't off him either.

Edited to say: Of course, he may have sucked the rest of his career for the Green Wave.

He obviously didn't go to "the camp" or he plays with too much emotion.

I beat the SOB knows how to bunt to.

I saw him play in HS, and he is a very smooth fielder. I hope that Tulane lets him out of his scholarship because he will beat out Butler easily.

OK, so my question is since he signed with Tulane, am I correct when I say that he will have to RS next year and then be eligible in 2010? But, he could play if Tulane will release him from his scholarship?

They've changed the rules so much, I can't keep up anymore.

That is correct. Since he never actually enrolled at Tulane he would be eligible in 2009 as long as they release him.

It looks like the reporter jumped the gun on this deal. Jarrod has not been accepted as a transfer at MSU. He is hopeful that things will work out, but there are still a few hurdles that have to be cleared. He has to be released before anything can even begin to happen with MSU.

What position does he play? I'm assuming 2B by the comments about Jet losing his job, but just wanted to clear it up.

Tulane baseball loses Parks

Written by Ken Trahan
Monday, 21 July 2008 10:11

NewOrleans.com Sports has learned that Tulane baseball signee Jerrod Parks of Meridian Community College has decided to opt out of his commitment to Tulane to attend Mississippi State this fall.

Because Parks had already signed a letter of intent with Tulane, he cannot play for Mississippi State in 2009 and will have to sit out a year when he transfers unless Tulane is willing to let him out of his binding letter.

NewOrleans.com Sports has learned that Tulane does not plan to let him out of the commitment.

I'm not surprised... Rick Jones can be a giant douche bag.

Not to be a negative nancy, but he struck out a lot at meridian and had a terrible attitude.... Sub par player, not really a huge get...... just my opinion call me a naysayer

and I imagine that our middle infield will be Bussy and Parks in a couple of years.

I think that it is smart of Cohen to shore up the middle of the field- Freeman (I'll give Polk him), Bussy, Parks, and Ryan Collins (I'll give Polk him to) is going to be pretty solid in a couple of years.

</p>but he did hit 14 home runs and while he may have struck out a lot, I bet he didn't strike out looking a whole lot.

I will say that we do need to take a wait and see approach with these JUCO players that we give scholarships to, even though Tyler Moore turned out well.
