That would be about as good a draw as Mississippi could hope for.
Brackets make no sense, why would you not have Boise State and Miami play in the opening round and Ohio State get the bye ?That would be about as good a draw as Mississippi could hope for.
Somethings definitely wrong when the last team in gets a favorable draw. Although at Penn St in December likely at night could get pretty cold.Brackets make no sense, why would you not have Boise State and Miami play in the opening round and Ohio State get the bye ?
Ole Miss goes on the road to play PSU at home.
I expect some shaking up of this bracket if Georgia beats Vols and A&M beats Texas.
All draws look favorable bc there just aren’t a lot of great teams. At Penn St is about as tough as it gets with that group.Somethings definitely wrong when the last team in gets a favorable draw. Although at Penn St in December likely at night could get pretty cold.
Hear me out. If they win Penn State and BYU, going to those three games would have to cost close to 10k. Assuming their top 10,000 boosters attend those games. That is 100 million in games that they would probably spend on NIL. Meanwhile we are sitting home growing our coffers. Chess Checkers bitches. FYI Message Boad Geniuses this is satire. That would be about as good a draw as Mississippi could hope for.
Why would Ohio State get the bye? They are currently behind Oregon in the standings, and lost the head to head.Brackets make no sense, why would you not have Boise State and Miami play in the opening round and Ohio State get the bye ?

I wouldn’t seed BYU or Miami ahead of Ohio State , Ole Miss, Alabama or a few other teams. Why would Ohio State get the bye? They are currently behind Oregon in the standings, and lost the head to head.
They just pencilwhipped the Top 4 and put the current first place team in each league in the Top 4. If its a tie (like the SEC is), they just put in the highest ranked CFP team. Bracket is nonsense until the final version is released.
Texas resume is no worse than Penn State’s. Texas best win is Vandy. Penn State’s best win is Illinois. IU has only being undefeated to write home about, they are basically Boise State without a loss. At least BYU has the Clemson win.Texas at 3 is laughable. Worst resume in the playoff especially when you see the committee doesn’t think a ton of Georgia. Bama probably has the best sec resume.
Well no shít….nobody would if there was actually a choice. But the conference championship game winners get those Top 4 seeds and the byes automatically. That’s what is so stupid about this format. It’s been discussed at great length.I wouldn’t seed BYU or Miami ahead of Ohio State , Ole Miss, Alabama or a few other teams.
Four highest rated conference champions get a 1-4 seed.I wouldn’t seed BYU or Miami ahead of Ohio State , Ole Miss, Alabama or a few other teams.
Yeah but Penn State played Ohio State to the wire at home. TX got mauled by Georgia at home. And is still 3 spots ahead of Penn State. But yeah a lot of teams with not much to write home about.Texas resume is no worse than Penn State’s. Texas best win is Vandy. Penn State’s best win is Illinois. IU has only being undefeated to write home about, they are basically Boise State without a loss. At least BYU has the Clemson win.
What’s also really confusing is having both BYU and IU leapfrog Tennessee, when we didn’t learn anything new about any of those 3 teams this past week. All 3 just beat bad teams. If anything, BYU should drop due to the scare from Utah.
Regarding the committee’s opinion of UGA, that will change quickly with a win over UT. You’ll see those teams trade places. They seem to be setting up these closely ranked matchups in the IU / Ohio State game and UGA / Tennessee game. Those 2 and Texas / Texas A&M are really the only 3 meaningful matchups left in the regular season….which is kind of crazy. There need to be a lot more conference games and a lot less cupcakes with these gigantic asś conferences. Pathetic that you only have 3 prime matchups left with major implications in a 12-team CFP format.
Are you being serious?I wouldn’t seed BYU or Miami ahead of Ohio State , Ole Miss, Alabama or a few other teams.
It’s absurd to seed the ACC winner or Big 12 winner on equal footing with SEC or Big #2, without context to overall ranking and strength of team/league. I like having different teams and leagues but not pretending MWC, Big12 and ACC are equal when it comes to seeding.Four highest rated conference champions get a 1-4 seed.
They are assuming Miami wins the acc, Oregon wins the B1G, BYU wins the B12 and Texas wins the SEC.
It's possible none of those win their conference.
are you pretending byu or the big 12 is comparable to the sec ? Let BYU in the playoffs but don’t seed them ahead of Ohio State and Alabama. Are you being serious?
Ok I understand your take. I’m for 16 teams and no byes for anybody. Top 16 get in, period.are you pretending byu or the big 12 is comparable to the sec ? Let BYU in the playoffs but don’t seed them ahead of Ohio State and Alabama.
College basketball does it right. they try to honor conference champs in seedlings but they will give two #1 seeds to a conference if they have dominant teams. they try to rank the teams 1-64 and seed them accordingly, exactly how football should do it. getting BYU in round two is essentially a bye.Ok I understand your take. I’m for 16 teams and no byes for anybody. Top 16 get in, period.
That said, I could see a scenario where people would lose their minds if the first round byes weren’t reserved for the 4 highest ranked conf champs.
Georgia beats Tennessee by 10 points or less, Oregon wins out, Ohio St/Indiana ends in OT either way, Penn St wins out. Texas loses to A&M.
The above scenario would almost certainly put B1G teams ranked 1-4. How fair would it be to then see one conf get all of their teams get a first round bye?
As a 12 team playoff, 4 highest ranked conf champs getting bye is about all you can do. Again, byes are dumb.
Unless Georgia beats Tennessee soft enough to move Georgia up and keeps Tennessee from falling or Texas A&M beating Texas to the point that aTm jumps them and Texas stays ahead, not likely.Outside of a loss, what scenario sees OM miss the playoff? I need to know how to cheer.
Not much but I’d say cheer for smu and Miami. And smu to beat Miami in the champ game. Cheer for byu to go undefeated and hope they get beat in the champ game. Still Not sure either of those conferences get two bids under that scenario. Even more remote: LSU wins out and somehow qualifies for the sec cg and wins itOutside of a loss, what scenario sees OM miss the playoff? I need to know how to cheer.
Basically pull for Georgia, Alabama and A&M to win out. That gives SEC 5 2-loss teams. 6 counting Missouri but they probably can’t make the playoffs even if they do win out. Also pull for Notre Dane to win out ensuring they get a bid.Outside of a loss, what scenario sees OM miss the playoff? I need to know how to cheer.
The real kicker could be when a team takes its third loss in the title game. A committee has never had to consider whether to punish a team who lost in the title game in favor of a team that didn’t even make that conferences title game.Basically pull for Georgia, Alabama and A&M to win out. That gives SEC 5 2-loss teams. 6 counting Missouri but they probably can’t make the playoffs even if they do win out. Also pull for Notre Dane to win out ensuring they get a bid.
This bracket makes it seem like they are rigging the preliminary rankings for compelling theoretical matchups. These all feature SEC vs. B1G or SEC vs. ND. Seems intentional.
I think it’s a given that they will.so, it will be interesting to see if the committee makes extremely questionable pivots to their rankings just to create better TV matchups. I hope not. But I’m also a realist.
You somehow assume our coffers are growing, based on what????Hear me out. If they win Penn State and BYU, going to those three games would have to cost close to 10k. Yeah that’s going to suck more now because you’re going to absolutely have convoluted tie breakers in just about every league for at least one if not both championship game spots. The lack of scheduling equity is going to guarantee that some championship game participants are extremely questionable. If you make it, better win it.The real kicker could be when a team takes its third loss in the title game.
A committee has never had to consider whether to punish a team who lost in the title game in favor of a team that didn’t even make that conferences title game.
I think you are missing something. It’s absurd to seed the ACC winner or Big 12 winner on equal footing with SEC or Big #2, without context to overall ranking and strength of team/league. According to the CFP website, top 4 conference champs get a bye and the 5th highest ranked conference champ is guaranteed a spot in the 5-12 rankings. No specific conference is guaranteed a spot.I think you are missing something.
The ACC and Big 12 champs are guaranteed Top 4 seeds. It doesn’t matter if they’re 7-6 and ranked 58th in the final CFP rankings. If they win their conference championship game, they get a Top 4 seed and a bye.
That was the dumber than shít “compromise” that was reached over the offseason when all the leagues voted on this crap.
Did you read the last 3 words? You somehow assume our coffers are growing, based on what????
After this season they would grow???? You have a lot more faith and optimism than i do
Semantics. The B1G, ACC, Big 12 and SEC champs are always going to be the 4 highest ranked conference champions.According to the CFP website, top 4 conference champs get a bye and the 5th highest ranked conference champ is guaranteed a spot in the 5-12 rankings. No specific conference is guaranteed a spot.

We need to figure out a way for OM fans to storm the field after the beat us in the Egg Bowl so they can pay us $250K. Use that money to invest in Bitcoin and watch it grow.
