Such a QB driven league and Jayden Daniels is At another level already approaching the gold standard QBs remaining in the playoffs.

Looked more like a team that won its Super Bowl tonight.
Not to mention playing against a defense which had a first time starter in the secondary and a three time starter on the D-line. During the game I think one of the announcers talked about the lions having 10 starters out of this game. This explained the wide open receivers, running lanes the size of the Lincoln tunnel and basically zero pressure on their QB. When they did get to Daniels they made sure to put down an air mattress and gently knock him down. Regardless of what you think about Steve Young he is right, under these conditions a QB could play well into his 40’s.

I give Washington a ton of credit. That was a defining win for a young team.

But, Detroit turned it over FIVE times. As @Grant Green knows, that’s a classic recipe for getting upset at home in the playoffs.

Washington gave up 521 yards to Detroit. Hardly, a consistent way to win. The difference was the turnovers. Detroit gave up 14 easy points via turnovers. Goff also threw two ints in the Washington end zone or close to it. That’s a minimum 20 point swing and up to 28.

It was a very good win. They’ll feel good going into next week. Who wouldn’t? But the odds are against their next opponent flailing in the clutch like Detroit did.

Crazy stat from last night...Detroit had 4 different players throw a pass. I'm curious when the last time that happened in an NFL game (couldn't find an answer via google)...can't be a common occurrance.

The Detroit defense is decimated with injuries. Something like 10 starters are out.
they were the worst DEF in the NFL from week 14 to end of season. from week 13 and before they were #2. this was predictable. several other teams would have beaten them last night.

A turnover margin of 5 makes it extremely difficult to win in any situation, especially nfl. Smu did it in OT vs Duke this season, but that was a big outlier.

Time for my version of the @fairgambit tree story…

Washington loses 3 in a row

We get the family tree the morning of 12/1

7 wins straight since then

The tree is still up, and Mrs ErialLion is ready to consult divorce attorneys if we don’t take it down tomorrow.

Some tough choices on the horizon
Tell her ours is still up and will be until at least Feb. 2nd, Candlemas, the Feast of the Presentation, and the official end of the Christmas Season.
If that is not persuasive, well, there is this.....
