This next class is getting more and more expensive as the season advances and the ROI on it keeps getting less and less. After all is said and done, our class will be more expensive per star than OM’s last class ever was.

I’m sure he’s going to get interest. Coleman too. Both of those guys are SEC caliber.

Coleman might jump to the NFL.

Idk man. Something tells me 3 star players are not nearly as expensive as 4 and 5 star players.

We just need to field a half decent team and go 6 and 6.

A transfer from Kennesaw St, flipped a 3* from Troy & picked up a 3* that Auburn dropped. Man those NIL funds are flowing. Any of these may turn out to be good players for us. But talk of us having plenty of NIL money is just bull****.

Auburn is tampering with every good player they can. Because I love OM misery I listened to McCready and Parham on the way home from Starkville last night. They mentioned the cost of keeping #4 has gone way up because of Auburn.

I don’t understand that. We obviously have money issues and relative to sec peers we are nil poor. Admit this and form a strategy to work around that. We have people who deny there is any money issue. Why ?

We are not in bottom 25% in Sec for NIL money. We are somewhere in the 8 to 11 range. It’s about evaluating talent that are 3 and 4 star players.
now in saying this, I have no clue about our staff being good recruiters. i gave them a pass for last recruiting year, this class will let the story of “get r done or be done”.

I don’t believe this. list the 8 sec teams we have more money than. The five star Georgia LBer Arkansas signed probably cost as much as most of our portal class.

The problem is there isn’t just 1 NIL number. Where we rank in cash on-hand can be different than where we rank in 2024 NIL spent compared to 2025 NIL spent, compared to ‘24 / ‘25 funds collected, etc.

I agree with you though. I have a hard time believing we’re anywhere other than #11 - #14 in SEC football commitment though.

You wouldn’t believe anything remotely positive about this program. You and Goat make it a point to be negative when you have zero sources or knowledge about recruiting

Our problem with NIL is not only having enough to compete, but also having to spend more to get playerrd that will go to other SEC for a winning school a lot cheaper.

I don't think we are having a NIL issue. I doubt the guys we are signing are asking for much. When you steal a guy from Troy or JUCO surely our folks ain't paying much. Sadly I'm not very optimistic about how much of an impact they will make. Edited to add: I highly doubt we are gonna be able to keep the handful of good players we currently have. It's one thing to play like sh*t but it's a different situation we you bragged about showtime to your recruits and then this is what you actually do

Guarantee we don’t have much nil money compared to the rest of the sec.

Well we know one fan that doesn’t give a dime to help . 85 and Goat yet they like to make rumors up we don’t have money and complains about who we do get. Again part of the problem and not the solution!
Also, the kid we got from hinds had an OM offer as well as others with interest and rated the number one JUCO OL

Discussing the current state of our NIL in relation to recruiting really doesnt require your annoying oversight

The issue is we’re taking these guys on the cheap because that’s all we can afford. We’re in big trouble here. Best thing that could happen for us would be the top 30-40 schools break off inti a super conference & we’re not in it.

In the past, we used to be able to find the diamonds in the rough and develop 3 star players into NFL caliber players. With the transfer portal these days, the "good ones" aren't sticking around long enough to be developed to their fullest potential, and we recently haven't had the coaching staff that can do these things, either. The transfer portal and NIL do not protect these young minds from themselves, which really hurts some schools and puts us at a disadvantage. Players that would be able to succeed here can just change their mind and go to a "more successful" program where they can sit on the bench for a team loaded with 5 star players instead of being one of the best players on our team and be more noticed. No 18 year old needs to be trusted with hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars, either. Everything about all of this is 17'ed.

how do you know we DO have sufficient NIL funds? all Goat and others have to go on is results. And results say we suck donkey testicles on the recruiting trail. Which translates over to sucking donkey testicles on the field. So, either we don't have money to offer these recruits, or they don't want the boatloads of money we have.

Nobody knows for certain-it’s all hearsay and word of mouth. But I would assume we are at or near the bottom with Vandy and Mizzou.

Missouri is near metropolitan areas of St Louis and KC. They have access to capital. I would guess they are similar to several big Ten schools Like Iowa who has a big Chicago alumni base.
