We are middle of the pack sec if these stars are correct and most of the five/four stars don’t go pro.

Pretty surprised to see how few four and five stars we have, and how many three stars we have. Pretty meh overall, and you can bet that some will go draft.

Ranking commits in baseball is pretty misleading. You only need to rank the players that get to campus.

Also, I have no clue what site that is or the validity of their rankings, but looking at the commit list for 2021, they don't have Hunter Hines or Slate Alford listed.

Yep, baseball rankings are next to worthless. They become slightly usable when you factor in the draft. Then there is all the goofiness of juniors/seniors and if they come back or stay in school. It's obvious that age wins in college baseball, and to overcome that, you really have to have ridiculous talent, like say Vandy 2019. Most can't do it.

Even LSU, as much talent as they claim to have, had to have a couple of guys come back for their senior year to make that run in 2017, and again, beaten by a superior-talented team (Florida).

Yeah and that is where vandy has had the advantage because they can offer a full scholarship and compete better with pro ball.

I can’t wait to hear Jim Ellis pronounce that first guy’s name.

Is there some sort of rule that we have to keep recycling first and last names. Jordan Westberg, Rowdey Jordan, Landon Jordan, Landon Sims, Tanner Leggett, Tanner Allen, Logan Tanner, Logan Forsythe, Lane Forsythe.

Coaching turnover. 3 of the 4 that are 4 and 5 star on that list Lemonis recently flipped from other schools. This horse has been beaten a few times but the top players commit as 9th and 10th graders. Lemonis was at Indiana when the studs in that class were committing.

I’ve never heard of that site in my life, so I’m giving them no credibility.

I would use perfect game. They have the most info when it comes to high school baseball players. They currently have our 2022 class as 7th in the nation. Obviously a lot changes after the draft. LSU is currently #1, but they have 11 commits in the Top 100. Over half of those guys won’t step foot in Baton Rouge.

Perfect Game #7

A lot of things to consider when looking at baseball recruiting rankings. The obvious one is that a lot of top recruits never play in college.

Teams also approach recruiting differently. Ole Miss optimizes for one big class every three years. State has more balance year-to-year, but even our recruiting is somewhat cyclical.

State recruiting rankings according to Perfect Game:
2013-17th
2014-37th
2015-2nd
2016-20th
2017-21st
2018-7th
2019-7th
2020-18th
2021-15th
2022-7th

Ole Miss:
(on years)
2013-6th
2016-2nd
2019-2nd
2022-4th

(off years)
2014-19th
2015-28th
2017-19th
2018-38th
2020-19th
2021-38th

The best thing to do is look at on-field results and assume the best teams are also the best recruiters.

State last 10 seasons:
-7 Super Regionals
-4 CWS appearances
-2 CWS Finals appearances
-1 National Championship

Ole Miss last 48 seasons:
-7 Super Regionals
-1 CWS appearance

Looks about the same as Perfect Game to me. LSU, Ole Miss, Vandy and Arky are ahead of us just like the one I posted. SEC is all that is included in the 14Power.
