the ref is having a tough night so far. If either player should have gotten a card on this play (somewhat debatable), it should have been the Uruguayan.

Balogun was offsides. But the Uruguayan should have been carded for taking him out from behind.

I repeat, this ref is in a match that is way above his level of experience, and is making fundamental mistakes.

1st yellow given to a Uruguayan player, which shows how poorly the ref is doing in a match like this.

They actually flipped the camera angle to lower on the world feed in the 39th minute…assume that’s what we’ll see the rest of the way

crap, Uruguay with a goal in the 66th minute on a set piece. But the guy that scored on the rebound looks to be offside. VAR is checking

edit: goal is awarded. that's hard to believe

so this is how VAR decided it was not offside on the Uruguayan goal. But the cameras are not down around the 18, so they are inexact extrapolations. Such BS

Hopefully we can get the coach we should have in the first place rather than the wife beating brother of a US official.

The coach we should have had was able to get CANADA through to the group stages.
The coach who apparently the US federation treated like ****.

Good riddance to a man not worthy of his name.

Honestly, USA needed to get a goal in first half, make Uraguay open up. Play the counter with Pepe and Wright Phillips. Also think this was a game Aaronson could have made a difference with his energy and pace. In short US were out played and out coached.

The US team is overrated by the same pundits all flipping out now. They actually played a good first half against a superior team. They’ll bounce GB, but it won’t change the trajectory one bit.

Had Weah not lost his head maybe they get out of the group but that is still their ceiling. The US hype team on this “golden generation” can ease up a bit now I suppose. They are more talented overall than past teams, but they still lack the overall quality up top and at CB/goalie to really matter. We have a keeper who so bad with his feet/distribution he was laughing at himself as he kicked the ball out for the third time.

After all the bullcorn about soccer, SOCCER, taking over as America's sport, they shat the bed, again. Just shut up and go away. It is fifth tier in the USA.
Who said it's taking over as America's sport? If there is any BS you just posted it with those comments. Fifth tier...the US vs. Bolivia which was just an opening group match had more viewers than any Stanley Cup game except 7....Cup finals....group opener vs. Bolivia and more people watched it by a million or so pretty much each game outside of game 7. Then again, I wouldn't go into a hockey thread just to piss on their Wheaties, but you do you and thanks for jumping in a soccer thread just to be that RICHARD. Good job!!!

At the end of the day, this is still a worldwide sport that starts in the street or empty lot And not at the travel club, academy, or everyone gets a trophy at the league banquet Level.

Street level, kids looking down at a ball at their feet all day long, without drinking out of some water bottle With a logo On it.

Will the USA men’s team ever get there? I believe they have a few players who have experienced this but not enough. Maybe one day.

BTW, Refereeing at this level or any level in soccer is almost always atrocious, everyone knows this. Score first and force the game.

That official last night was crazy. Pulling a card out of his pocket for a yellow on someone that didn't deserve it only to allow them to play on, but then the handball against Uruguay gets called back as Pulisic gets into the open for a counter. Judge Smails posted a clip and the ref refused to shake Pulisic's hand at the end of the match.

I disagree with you about where this teams needs to go. The Euros are showing if you're not the most talented team which the US is not outside of CONCACAF then you need to figure out how to defend first and foremost. The smallest countries in Europe can shut down top 5 teams with an organized defense and if the real goal is to go further than the group stage then this team needs to find an identity.

If you go with an attacking style coach it may work in CONCACAF, but the best teams in S. America and Europe can figure out how to eventually break down this team. We have no real #10 in the middle that is a wolrd class distributor so that is the catalyst to any decent attacking team so it's a dead stop there IMO. They have the chance now to break from Greg, so take it, and find a coach who can organize this team better in the back third. You cannot play a high line with a goalie who has 2 left feet so if you do go attacking get Turner out of there ASAP. If he is your only option than you cannot expect to play a high line and move him up as he's just not there with his feet.

That sure is a bad look for that referee.

As far as where I think the team needs to go, it does need to identify ( which I think it has done ) the one or two players who should be shooting as often as possible from a wide range ( 18 to 30 yards or more ) every time they get a look. Yes you can sit back, but you have to take every available shot possible.

Supposedly Pulisic said something....
