I do not see the harm in allowing fans to ring cowbells at any point in the game when the band has the option to play music. I mean the cowbell is an accepted percussion instrument that our band actually uses, so are they going to fine the band if they play a song that utilizes cowbells during a break when fans would not otherwise be allowed to ring them? Say it with me... "Hell no!"
It would still keep us from ringing them once the opposing teams breaks their huddle and approaches the line, which most detractors point to as the biggest "competitive advantage." There is no harm in letting us have cowbells... the bottom line is it ruffles feathers when we ring them while celebrating a victory over a team "we shouldn't have beat in the first place." Honestly, if Mullen continues moving this program in the direction most of us seem to think it's headed now then the cowbells will be the least of their concerns...
No slight to MSU intended, but I've been to games in Tuscaloosa, College Station, Lincoln, Knoxville and Baton Rouge where the crowd noise without cowbells was a great deal louder than what I remember from going to any MSU game. Let the bells ring.
