ok...that was just a speculative article...not a report on who might be a candidate....but ok ONE.
Finbaum also talked about it but you can keep claiming it was Clemson fans mentioning it if you would like. Doesn’t make you right. It was definitely talked about nationally. But as you will notice he also quickly put it to bed.

Did I miss him put it to bed? He was asked about it and just said “I’m just focused on this game”.

No you are correct but if you have watched him over the years he’s not an idiot. He’s not going to pull a Saban and back himself into a corner. My father taught me at a young age you never destroy a bridge or close a door. That’s what he is going here but I just don’t see him leaving Clemson.

Bama will never hire Dabo, he's a freakin' redneck, and don't see him going to A&M. He is gonna stay right there in the ACC and Clemson
I don’t think he would go to Alabama. Is Alabama really still your home when you have lived in Clemson 1/2 your life m, built a program, it’s also the place your kids call home.

@11 mil base salary, how much income does one person need? Yeah, I get it, lure of twice, maybe 4 times that amount might be on the table but, pressure of that job? Really?
He may be goofy & all things attributable, dumb, in this case, he ain't.
Probably get a nice raise though.
Besides, if they are headed to the SEC, he's got the nucleus in house & established to compete. More So where recruiting is concerned.
It's all writer talk.

It's all irrelevant, he isn't going to be asked to coach at Bama.

Like you would know what the Alabama administration would or wouldn’t do, lmao.
I didn't realize I was saying anything so prophetic, it isn't exactly rocket science, nothing me and millions of others don't know. It's called common sense and a basic understanding of human nature. But if you strongly believe Dabo will be the replacement for Saban, well enjoy your delusion, I mean you also think Dabo may go to the NFL, I'll leave it right there 😂

Uhhhhh, I never said dabo would go to the nfl. I actually said the opposite in that his coaching style wouldn’t resonate.

Sorry, that was Celtic Riot that made that statement, but I see him going to the NFL about as likely as him going to Bama

Would Dabo jump at 15-18 mill a year for 6-7 years guaranteed or stay at Tater town for 10-11 mill a year with with the wolves howling?

I don't really see it. Why would you go somewhere you're almost guaranteed to fail? And, by fail, I mean fail to contend for a title at a school that hasn't won one in almost a century.

On the other hand, I think Dabo feels betrayed by Clemson fans, and rightly so. He transformed the program into more than could have ever fathomed. Now they act like they're too good to have a down year.

I think if they win out and finish 9-4, fans will be content and things will settle down. If they lose another game or 2, I can see the fans getting unjustifiably up in arms and Dabo saying "screw y'all."

It would actually be funny to see them run off the best coach they ever had and sink back to their second-tier status because of it.
Dabo's lack of using NIL and the portal has relegated Clemson to second tier status already. I don't think he'd be a good fit at aTm but who knows. The alumni would handle NIL there but buying the best players hasn't brought them a championship. Coaching does matter. And without Venables Clemson is not as good.

Think it's time to start the thread. Makes a ton of sense on both sides:

A&M - Big Oil isn't ponying up $77M to hire a guy like Mike Elko. He's been a cute story. And he's going to win 7 games this year at Duke. And yes, I know his QB got hurt. Doesn't change anything. That ain't moving the needle. Money isn't an issue after just securing a $160M check from their fundraising arm. With OU/UT coming to the SEC, they can't afford to take a risk. It makes me want to puke, but I think Dabo is as close to a can't miss as they could hope for.

Dabo - IF it's true that Clem is coming to the SEC, I've held true that it would be the end of the Dabo era. He's going to jump. He's going to do what is necessary to protect his personal brand. And he knows how much tougher it's going to be for Clem to compete in the SEC. Divisions are going away, so you're not having to deal with Bama/LSU every year. He would be at a place that would make him the highest paid coach in America, AND let him hire the highest paid assistants in America. And give him $20-30M in NIL funds to sign top classes. Jimbo didn't have the stones to manage it. I think Dabo does.

Dabo was aske about it today. Here is his "no comment" answer...very interesting. How much more can Clem afford to pay Dabo?? He's either looking for a raise, or legit thinking about jumping.

"I'm just focused on this job ... Always have been. Just trying to beat North Carolina. It must be November -- that's all I can say"
You idiots just wish that Dabo would leave. He's not going anywhere! A&M has never won anything. Dabo is already one of the highest paid coaches in America. Maybe Shane will go to college station? They are always looking for a 12th man cheerleader.

Lol their defense isn’t the problem. They held us to less than 100 yards after adjusting for the first drive. Offense is their problem. There is nothing wrong with Wes Goodwin. That defense is top 10 in 2023 by the metrics.

Nobody wants Dabo except Clemmy. He was lucky to ride the coattails of 2 generational QBs and had some great coaches. Now, he is a HC at a lower level ACC team. A@M wants more than that.

I'm all for garnet glasses but claiming the taters as a lower level conf team makes you look like an idiot.

You are crazy as hell. Over 70% of all college teams would welcome him with open arms if he was willing to leave, but he’s not.

And clearly they want more than that, when they had a done deal with mark stoops last night until the fans went nuts and A&M backed out of the deal.

1 year he went 4-4. How about 12 straight years of 10 or more wins, multiple ACC championships, 6 college football playoff trips, 4 national title games winning 2. Yeah no one would want him. Take off the garnet glasses man. Second only to Alabama over the last 10 years although Georgia is a close 3rd and will likely pass.

I acknowledged his past success. Those were great years, but this juggernaut with their lethal OC put up 0 points on our petty team.

4-4 in the ACC doesn't bleed success.

Didn’t have to. They won and played very conservative the second half. Why go to the air when you can ground and pound. Again you’re talking about 1 year. When people hire they look at the entire resume.

Gotcha. I am not up to speed with HR processes, but I will say that those teams that played in the nattys would have put up 50+ by playing conservatively last night. Hell, we beat em last year. We couldn't hold their jocks when they were rolling. They are trending downwards.

Another idiot take. That is a top ten defense sir. I’m not a Clemson fan but will give credit where it is due. We went 80 yards on the first drive. Hardly got 80 the rest of the game.

With Dabo’s pay scale and contract…I would think he would have to have an unbelievable deal offered for him to leave CU. He would have to pay a buyout to Clemson and make a lot more than he already makes. His sons have probably been looked out for with jobs in SC. Don’t think the Alabama job is as alluring to Dabo as it may have been at one time.

They played conservative bc they don’t trust their passing game. And that was proven out throughout the night. It’s not just one year. It’s just a fact that they’re trending downward from where they were. I’m not sure why that’s so hard for anyone without orange glasses to see.

Yes, their D is legit. Their TEAM is not. Slightly above average overall.

I don’t disagree that’s why they played conservative. You play to your strengths. No one is making an argument that they haven’t trended down.

A lot of "trending downward" talk about a team that has won 4 in a row... including 2 wins over ranked teams...

They just finished with their worst record since 2010. And they needed a fluke defensive TD and and their kicker to have a career day to get that. Duke beat them by 3 TDs. They’re certainly trending downward.
