Dabo call in show

Reminds me of the prepared remarks when Dablow confused an on air comment made by Todd to have been made by SOS. He went on a ten minute prepared tirade against USC on that occasion. Never a shortage for words that one. In his defense fans are unrealistic. I recall an Alabama fan some years ago calling for Saban's resignation when bama lost one game or maybe just came close to losing one. Anyway it's a rivalary and the opponents fan's are gonna take any occasion to unload on the opponent's coach or anything negative about their program.

Tylerrrr accused Dabo of being prideful and arrogant. Dabo responds with a 5 minute lecture on how great he is, even saying he's NEVER failed at ANYTHING in his life. You literally cannot make this up.

How is calling the guy a loser any different? Make no mistake. There was not way in which Dabo could have handled that phone call that USC fans wouldn't be making a big deal out of it.
Question...did you listen to the whole 5 minute audio? Just curious.

It's one thing to have expectations.

It's another thing entirely for fans to throw temper tantrums like spoiled rotten babies because they have to endure ONE poor season in over a decade and be calling for the head of the ONLY coach they ever had who made them THE elite team in all of college football. They have never in their existence sniffed the level of success that Dabo delivered but now they act like it's their birthright and if Dabo can't get them back there, they'll just bring in another coach who will. They forget who they are. They aren't an Ohio State where it's mostly plug and play and they remain at/near the top regardless of head coach.

Clemson fans would do well to remember where they came from.
Again it’s not one bad season. It is a decline I’ve the last 3 years. A program is all about W-L but it doesn’t tell the whole story. Clemson has been in a decline the last 3 years period.

If you're a fan his rants are epic. If you're not they amount to infantile verbal diarrhea.
Well, a lot of their fans aren't too thrilled with it either. Been in a text group this morning with USC/Clem guys, we're all on the same page...it was weak, sad, and a beta move.

Dang what’s going on today peepee. I have to agree with this as well. I have many Clemson friends all say it was unprofessional and childish. He took the bait and dumped the reel.

I was really responding to that Tweet about his "epic rant". You can ask the guy anything and get an epic rant. This call may have been a setup for Dabo to rant. The parking lot rant about Spurrier years ago was a totally fabricated interview.

Correct. It absolutely was a set up. Almost like somebody was holding up cue cards for him to read. He couldn't possibly have thought up all that crap off the cuff.

AND, there's no way in hell the clem propaganda machine lets Tylerrrr go on and on like that without cutting him off. Not happening. If it were real, they would have cut him right at the beginning.

I thought about that too. Wouldn’t surprise me. He has an insatiable need to tell people how great he is.
I know he wants to keep Clemson in the spotlight by any means necessary, which I get! Most recently because they have been winning, but when you're not winning what do you do?

Well, I finally listened to the full audio. I thought Dabo was right in his response before I listened to it. Now I know he's right.

Like I said in a previous post, I know when it comes to Clemson that USC fans are not capable of rationale thought. But if you're capable of listening to it objectively as a college football fan, everything Dabo says is right on.

For one thing, he let that Tyler kid ramble on about this and that for 2 minutes, even as the kid questioned his character, trying unsuccessfully to cite scripture to support his position. He only cut the kid off when it appeared there was no endpoint to his incoherent rant as he was just repeating himself.

But his response was spot on. They've accomplished something that's only been done 3 times in the history of college football. Winning HAS spoiled Clemson fans. There's no question about that. A team that hadn't won diddly in nearly 4 decades played for 4 titles, winning 2 in 5 years.

Everything he said in response was spot on and I enjoyed it. He rightly identifies the kid as one of those people who can only find fault in others. It's easy to just sit on the sidelines and find fault in everyone else. He goes on to fully accept that this is a bad season and takes responsibility for that.

I see nothing but good stuff in his response. He restricted his response to the criticisms that the kid tried to make. As far as I can tell, the major objection he had was that Dabo makes a lot of money.

Good for Dabo for an objectively solid response!

Yeah it bothers me. I know as Gamecock fans we're not supposed to be a thinking group of people. But the whole thing is just absurd. He's done more for that program that anyone ever dreamed was with the realm of possibility. Clemson fans could have never conceived of playing for 4 titles and winning 2 in 5 years. If you asked them back in 2010 if they would take a stretch of 12 years with 10 or more wins, winning 8 ACC titles, playing for 4 titles and winning 2 in exchange for having one bad year, they'd have traded their firstborn children to make that deal without hesitation. And, now, here they are on the other side of success acting like they're such a great program they should be utterly immune to ever having a down year.

Again, I know we're USC fans and not supposed to engage our minds. It's the Clemson coach so we're just supposed to hate him. But I'm capable of rationale thought. In our circumstance, it would be absurd for fans to be calling for Beamer's head after 3 seasons b/c we're having one bad year. Dabo gave them a solid decade of elite football and now they're b*tching over one season? I suppose I look at it more from the bigger picture and take it as a commentary on the state of our society.

But I also have many, many Clemson friends and I recall how they were late in Tommy's tenure and early in Dabo's, utterly forlorn b/c it seemed they'd never get over the hump. They were just so completely desperate to be taken seriously. Now they behave as though they've always been at the pinnacle and anything less is unforgivable.

Dabo brought in the the top QB from the 2020 and 2022 recruiting classes. He also went out and got the top name among all OCs in college football. EVERY Clemson fan approved of these moves. They just haven't worked out.
I respect your perspective. But I have been a Gamecock Fan about 50 Years Now.
They (Clemson Fans, Their Admin, AD and etc) have always "In their Own Minds thought they were Superior as Compared to Everyone Else."

This is What Fuels my Hatred for them. Their Arrogance. Even though some of us believe they have Earned or deserve their right to be Arrogant, because of their decade of Dominance and historical success.

Why are coaches call-in shows even a thing anymore? They've always been stupid but seem extra pointless these days. In-bred hick redneck hillbillies calls in to make a suggestions to the head coach? Gimme a break. They're just stupid. All of them. Including Carolina Calls.
I may be mistaken, but don't they provide a mechanism by which a state employee can get paid $11m per year? Same for the Sunday morning coaches' TV shows (I assume those are still on?) and the summer football camps. I'm sure Rogue or somebody else knows more about this stuff than I do, but I assumed it was those "collateral" duties that provide the lion's share of a coach's salary.

My only thought is it was hilarious. Tiger town is melting down. Has bad as we are this year their antics can still help us in recruiting. It may not, but still a bad look in Taterville.

It’s more tied to the ancillary income from media contracts. For example, Beamer would be obligated by Learfield to do the call in show, post game show, pressers, etc…Their state salary is a very small percentage of their contract.

Well spoken...many fans often confuse their status in life based upon the success of their school in sports. Especially those that never actually attended the school in the first place. One can celebrate the success of their team...but they need to remember it was the success of other...not them. That's what they forget when they want to look down their noses to everyone else.

Screw Dabo. Do you not remember The Rant. Screw his ***. Good Lord. If you want to stroke him, run over to TigerNet and light a candle for him.

My response is not really about Dabo, obviously. It's about Clemson fans forgetting where they came from. And the overall sad state of our society as represented by Tyler.

Tyler has since said he handled his call poorly and should have been more respectful. Also should not have referenced Proverbs and called Dabo arrogant. His girlfriend texted him and told him nothing good comes from the whole internet thinking he's a child. Overall he said he totally botched the call.

He maintains the crux of his criticisms.

Tyler on the Gamecocks:

Tyler says he used to be quite active on social media, particularly Twitter, responding to posts of others involving politics and sports. He said he particularly loved sticking it to Gamecock fans through his comments.

He said he's dialed that back considerably of late, realizing he was part of the problem.

"Honestly it's what's wrong with society today. At one point in time I would spout off about a lot of things on Twitter. I would just literally respond to other accounts, and some of those did involve Clemson.

"I've gone through some of those posts today and, my goodness, I'm not proud of a lot of that."

Still not convinced the whole things wasn't staged by dabo. With Tyler apologizing, next is another dabo diatribe where he forgives Tyler, and shows what a big man he is to forgive. Then all the clemsin fanbase will hug it all out and sing kumbaya. Wait for it.......

Considering the season we have had, this is actually fun to read these comments about Dabo and his Orange minions. It's not just Clemson. So far, they have not joined the club that Auburn and LSU belong to. Win a National Championship and a couple of years later, fire the coach who got you that trophy. I think the invitation has been printed and mailed. Let's see how soon the crying kitties wait before they accept the invitation.

There is no way they ever fire Dabo, short of some kind of scandal or having multiple losing seasons in a row. They can't. I think a recent article I read on it probably sums it up correctly. Those Clemson fans who are most boisterous right now on social media are younger fans who think double-digit win seasons and trips to the playoff are part of Clemson's birthright.

Maybe, just maybe you should not give up on those hotel reservations so soon. Everything would have to break right but there is a chance both Carolina and Clemson could find themselves at Williams-Brice in late November at 5-6. The winner goes to a low-level bowl, but that's better than losing to your rival and staying home. If Beamer can win five games straight and produce a winning record for his first three seasons, the comments coming from fans at both schools will be fun to read. I know it's a long shot but we can dream, can't we?

I’d rather beat Clemson than go to a bowl
